MINDANAO CLIMATE , RICH SOIL IDEAL FOR SORGHUM FARMING Sorghum , the new grains crop which the Mindanao Development Authority ( MinDA ) is promoting to support Mindanao's livestock and poultry industry , has been found to grow well in Mindanao. In the recent field trial conducted by MinDA , a Sorghum Variety 505x5 from Scott Seed Co of Hereford , Texas showed early maturity and oustanding grains and silage yield . Due to successful field trial , MinDA will be working closely with Scott Seed Company through its owner , Coby Kriegshauser , to expand the Sorghum area in Mindanao . The production fields will be developed close to the feed mills owned by PILMICO, San Miguel Corporation and CP Foods Philippines to ensure the marketing of the grains. Currently , MinDA is working out a cooperation program on Sorghum Development in Mindanao with the US Agency for International Development. Wow, thank you for featuring this crop. I have been doing my research on this crop here in US and plan on planting these at our farm in the Philippines. I am surprised that meron na pala sa pinas neto. These crops have so many potential such as benefits to the livestock from silage and also consumers from grains to substitute rice. These are actually healthier than rice. People just need to get used to eating them. Based on what I have read, these are easier to manage than rice crops because they are drought tolerant. With the global warming, we need to adapt and these should be introduced more to the farmers. Hopefully the government will provide support.

I've been searching for something that I can plant in our small land in Bicol region and I've been thinking of something that can be made as ethanol fuel. I've learned that this sorghum ay pwedeng gawin ethanol fuel and not only that as you've shown in this video mas madami pang pwedeng gawin sa seeds and stalks of this plant. Meron po ba kayong information kung saan pwedeng kumuha ng binhi ng sorghum at saan pwedeng ibagsak yung mga harvest sa bawat area sa Pilipinas?
