hi jim, my brother was watching this vid with me and he wanted me to say to you that the way you solder, tin, shrink wrap ect.. is spot on.. its exactly the way he does it on advanced avionics wiring installs!!! and they never ever get recalls on wire issues on any of the aircraft.

Thank you for taking the time to make these videos Jim! I just emailed your two videos to my buddy who just bought a 2004 C5 Z51 Targa MN6, and he's looking to replace the factory head unit as well. I'll subscribe after this video. Take care. -Chris

Thank you for the video Jim. I'm replacing the stereo in my C5 this weekend. Already finished installing amps and running wires. Head unit will be done Saturday. So I can just hook up my power antenna wire from my aftermarket stereo harness to the factory green wire and it will make the radio stations work stronger?

My aftermarket head unit had a wire for power antenna. I hooked the green wire to this so it would only power the preamp when the radio was on. Worked well for me. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmram3ylpdGjZ9U

Nice write up, do you have a Y part numbers for the wiring harness and or single DIN install kit?

+S Schoppe Sorry I do not recall the part numbers- I purchased the dash kit from Crutchfield- they have everything- one of my favorite online stores!

Nice video Jim. Question tho...on the green wire to improve reception, which green wire is it? Which wires r beside it in connector? I see a few dark green wires, a green/white and a light green. My reception doesn't seem to improve hooking 12v to any of those. Can u help? Mine is a 99 that had bose and replacing head unit and front and rear speakers. No amps or subs bein added

Excellent videos, I am looking for part 5. I am beside myself. Any ideas when you will post the video? I have aftermarket amp, head unit and speakers that came with the car. I just bought a double din and I am lost here. I understand to wire all speakers to the amp and use rca jacks out to head unit, that includes sub, front and rear speakers, is that correct?

I love that you did this video. It helps us do-it-your-self guys with the what the why. Regarding the yellow always hot wire. The fuse is so close to the head unit, installing it will have the fuse behind the dash. Would it be OK to cut and extend the wire so that the fuse is inside the engine bay and close to the fuse?
@Jim19053ElectronicsDude7 жыл бұрын
Not a bad idea! You could also retain the original fuse and leave it where it is, and still put a fuse in the engine bay as well. Two fuses are better then one- LoL!

Why didn’t you use any speakers? When you cut all off you lost me?
@Jim19053ElectronicsDude5 жыл бұрын
At 5:04 I mention that I will be using external amplifiers fed by the RCA jacks and not using the head unit internal amplifier. You can do it either way- whichever you prefer.

Very good vid but to put sleeves on buried wires is waaaay not necessary.
