Thank you guys for being the only podcast that truly represents family values. I was beginning to think that no one truly cared for the most important people in this country, and that’s those with an infinite life and bear the heavy burden of double taxation. God bless, even to that sinful Eric Helms. Edit: grammar

@@greymatters1603 To be fair, there are people who unironically agree with what I had written. Given our political climate, it’s pretty reasonable to conclude I was being serious right up to the point I had mentioned the “sinful” Eric Helms.

Hi Greg! My boyfriend is a long time listener and huge fan of your podcasts and videos. I just want to say thank you for mentioning your flu shot reactions. I have panic disorder, and I got my booster and flu shot at the same time, and the following day after was very bad for me. I had a bad panic attack. We were clueless as to why it was so bad, like I hd taken stimulants. Well you mentioned your reaction to flu shots which led us to look further into it, and your right! It has been reported to aggravate symptoms! So thank you so much for that! It’s great to have some possible answers!

Thank you for the entire content. A precise thank you for distinguishing omnivore, vegan AND vegetarian. The last several years, too often, the conversation/comparison in the fitness world is limited to omnivore and vegan.

I really like your new office look with the plants! Also the beard thing on Eric really did start to work as he just let it go. With the beanie it's a really believable fisherman look! I also dig the "whoosh" noise and mid frame between segments. Honestly, 0,5 kg does sound quite big of a difference in muscle mass given that it's basically coming from "no effort" at all, just as a bonus. Assuming the commonly accepted reasonable rate of growing muscle to be maybe 0,25-0,5 kg per month (if I don't remember that wrong). But the visual effect size in the data Eric presented does put a dent to that confidence and I'm sure the quality of your resistance training plays a significant part in the effects.

this is important because protein is expensive and/or some days you wont make 1.6g/kg. if you have a few days in a week where youre only hitting 1.2 then you dont have to worry.

People need to understand when you take in protein sure it builds muscle but it's also very satiating and comes within nutrient dense foods, and so it's more than just for building the muscles. Further, higher protein has been shown to better retain muscle in the event you are cutting down. So if you are cutting then going on the higher end of protein (2.4 g/kg/day - 4g/kg/day) is where you want to sit if you want to maximize the muscle you retain on a cut (obv still do resistance training etc)

Great episode (yes sorry I'm late to the party and catching up with you guys now) Is there any recommendations or updates to the protein conversation if you are talking about athletes over 40? I understand there is a requirement to increase protein more as you get older?

The protein-segment made me interested: is there data about individual responses to different amounts of protein? Maybe twin-studies (with acute protein-synthesis or maybe even long term nitrogen balance/lean tissue gain)? Or is that to far off / hard to study?

Doing a test for normality of the residuals from a regression is a good alternative to leave-one-out analysis IMO. At least it has some mathematical credibility (Gauss Markov assumptions)

To Eric, is whey protein still something you'll consume sense it's essentially a waste product and cows aren't being bred and raised specifically for the manufacturing of whey?
@Moshealthtips2 жыл бұрын
its not a waste product lol what? cows manufacture milk and whey comes from milk
@grizzlymanverneteil44432 жыл бұрын
@@Moshealthtips it's a waste product left over from the production of cheese. Used to just be discarded and lots of it still is. But milk isn't harvested specifically for whey. They discussed it in a previous podcast.
@Moshealthtips2 жыл бұрын
@@grizzlymanverneteil4443 i dont get the relevance. bones and oxtail used to be discarded by many yet oxtail is 20lbs a lb. crude oil used to be considered a useless waste product and now we cant survive without it.
@grizzlymanverneteil44432 жыл бұрын
@@Moshealthtips because the consumption of whey isn't a direct cause of cattle mistreatment unlike milk or cheese as cattle are bread for this. It isn't profitable to breed them for whey. The second that changes then the question isn't relevant. They discussed this in a previous podcast. I'd direct you to it if I remembered it lol they do a better job explaining it than I do.
@jammydodgerthefirst2 жыл бұрын
@@Moshealthtips the relevance is that demand for whey does not increase milk production in any way. if you consume whey you're not contributing to milk production, full stop, therefore no guilt should be attached to using it
