Partition Stories: Kasura Begum

In the second video of the series, Kasura Begum, a Partition survivor recalls her journey from Amritsar and how the incidents of that night still keeps her up. They had to leave their homes and everything on few hours notice. How she survived the camps and her first eid in the new country. These people gave up everything for something they believed in, don`t let their sacrifices go in vain.

My maternal grandmother's house was in Nawabganj in present day pakistan. They had a huge house there. When partition occurred in 1947, my grandmother's family fled to maldah in India and settled there. She often said that the fear of partition riots was so much that they just fled. In maldah, they found that there is a empty house which belonged to a muslim family, who fled in the opposite direction to pakistan. They stayed in that house. They found that the entire muslim population in the locality where they stayed, migrated to Pakistan. Nobody stayed back, all left the locality for pakistan. Partation was a big disaster. 😭😭😭😭😭😭

An enquiry should be instituted as to why the process of India's Independence and Partition ( Creation of Pakistan ) done in a TEARING HURRY . Who were the Politicians crazy for grabbing Power at all costs ? Why no Security ( like UNO Troops ) provided to millions of helpless Refugees / Migrants who were slaughtered on an unprecedented scale.

Thanks to the foolishness and short sightedness of Tara Singh who refused Jinnah's offer to join Pakistan. Resulting in loss of Sikhs as well as muslims of east Punjab.
