The second Albanian partisan song on this channel.
This song was used by the Albanian partisans during the Axis occupiation of Albania. There's also a Bulgarian version of this song called "Партизан за бой се стяга".
The person in the video is Mehmet Shehu, a partisan leader and pretty much Hoxha's right-hand man.

The partisan's photo that is shown in this video is that of Mehmet Shehu. An early Albanian Communist, a Spanish Civil War Veteran, an Albanian resistance fighter during World War II, a full General and Chief of Staff of the Albanian People's Army, and the longest living Prime Minister of Albania from 1954 to 1981. Mehmet Shehu commited suicide in 1981, after falling in disfavour of the Albanian Labour Party officials and Enver Hoxha himself, for allowing his son's, Skender, engagement to Silva Turdiu, a Dinamo Tirana volleyball player whose uncles happened to be dissidents of the regime. Mehmet Shehu was declared an "Enemy of the People". His eldest son Vladimir died in custody, after refusing to denounce his father as a foreign agent, and his wife Fiqirete and remaining sons Skender and Bashkim were jailed, tortured and interned for 10 years.

He killed himself to save his family and left a letter for Hoxha. I doubt he was killed for a simple fact, Hoxha was caught offguard and he initially talked about honoring the PM and after little time he called him a traitor and an american spy.

Wrong, Shehu was one of Hoxha's closest allies but fell out with him in the 80's due to the machinations of Ramiz Alia. Also even if Shehu was really popular in the USSR it wouldnt matter since Albania was practically in an ideological war with them, giving more credibility to Hoxha to purge him if he really was 'treasonous'.

There are many theories why Hoxha decided to eliminate his number 2 man ( M. shehu, in picture) But the most likely version that has come out so far is that, as Hoxha was dying in 81-82 he needed to urgently name a successor. And he did not feel that his family would be secure in the hands of the merciless war legend M. Shehu. Rumors say that Hoxha feared him from back in the day. In the end Hoxha decided to leave Ramiz Alia as his sucessor, who was a soft spoken and completely loyal younger generation. He was also married into Hoxhas family.

The song was originally a Bulgarian folk song called „Идем, идем сган проклета“ ("We come, we come, damned scum" would be the rough translation to English), then the Communists in Bulgaria adapted the melody in the later years after WW1 and during WW2. The song possibly dates back to the 1800s, possibly the April Uprising of 1875.
