If anyone is watching this for tips on rebuilding carb, skip the first 15 minutes and follow these steps instead. Total time required to remove carb is about 1 minute. Remove two phillips screws on top cover. Remove (3) 4mm hex cap screws holding the intermediate cover. Look for black rubber intake elbow. Remove two screws on the bottom of the elbow and set aside. Use long 4mm hex -- T handle is usually long enough - insert through access holes on either side of handle near throttle lever. These holes access two screws that secure the intake elbow and carb to the intake adapter. Loosen these screws fully. They will not be removed until assembly is out. Unlink throttle rod from throttle trigger. It snaps upward. Remove fuel line and breather line from carb. Now pull out entire carb and intake elbow assembly. Note that for a proper cleaning there are a few welch plugs you will need to remove. Blowing air will not clean the troublesome passages on a Tilletson.

So how is it that you don't first install a gasket before installing the metering diaphragm? All the 2-stroke carburators that i have ever been inside, you have to install a diaphragm first and then a gasket on your inlet side of the carburetor and on the metering diaphragm side you have to install the gasket first and then you install the diaphragm second? And i am assuming that the green plastic piece is a dust cover? But I am confused about metering diaphragm going directly against the body of the carburetor? I think that the saw that your working on there is missing a gasket! Which would cause the little piece that pushes down on the arm to be closer than it is supposed to be causing the saw to have a rich condition that cannot be tuned out and depending on how far open it's holding the needle off of the seet can cause fuel to leak out of the exaust!

Cold start... Squeeze accelerator, then push button on side to hold accelerator on. Full choke until it giggles at you. Take off choke and it will start. It will review high until you squeeze the accelerator.
