Steve, yoiur video made it look a lot easier than it really is. As for my Dominican wife, first impression on watching your video was, that was a brand new machine. I responded that a brand new machine does not need a new drive block. She never reads labels and one load needs 3/4 bag of detergent. The result is the machine is full of rust and I needed a flywheel puller to get the drive block free from the transmission shaft. Also in her infinite wisdom the bleach despensor is designed for pouring in copious amounts of liquid chlorox. This machine is 10 yrs old in a household of 2 humans. However, she feels it is normal to change clothes 4 times daily. Lord help me!

Always, always, always so informative and EXACTLY the information I need! I surely don't know what I would do if you hadn't produced such well documented videos. Thank you again!! Jerry.

5:18 "now we'll just rock that inner basket till we break it free..." everyone in real life has to go to extreme measures to get those two apart. I had to follow the suggestions of two people online, where I both put clamps on the system to pull the drive block off the shaft and pour boiling water on the shaft in order to slowly get the drive block off the shaft. I haven't seen anyone else pull the basket out without the drive block being attached because of all the corrosion between the two. Most of these how-to videos are rubbish because all the parts are corroded together. I have had to scrub and scrape my parts with CLR and Vinegar for days in order to get them back to a point where I can finally put them back together.

Agitator won’t spin/work

This video is perfectly fine but ... if your washer is old like mine (7 years old) the basket won't come off easily. The drive block is full of rust and kind of fused with the drive shaft. WD40, PL-100 never worked. I even tried C-Clamps trick it didn't work either. In desperation I even tried to unscrew the gear box under the washer to pull it out and even that didn't work out. This video make it look like it's a very easy fix which it is but it isn't true for old washers with a drive block stuck in rust. Finally I'm calling a repairman or buying a new washer.

If I can hold the agitator by hand while it tries to agitate, is that a symptom of a bad drive block? Can’t hold it in spin. I did not remove the drive block, but it looks like it is fitting as it should with the drive tube.

My Roper makes a violent stop at the end of the spin cycle, so much so that it causes the washer to move. Can the drive block cause this problem? Thanks

So if you come here taking apart your washer to find out why your washer makes a horrid sound at the end of high spin ( banging metal from the tub jumping) 5:52 will show you what you and me both did wrong.
