Great point for a coffee drinker you made was that when you get tired, it may not be because you are actually tired but simply because it's a withdrawal symptom from coffee consumption. The coffee is creating your tiredness. If you didn't drink coffee you wouldn't be tired. Very important point. The same could be said for nicotine consumption - you don't have a cigarette because it relaxes you, you have it to relieve the withdrawal symptoms. I'm on day 7 of being caffeine free. Thanks for the video.

You're a smart man. Everything you just said is SPOT ON. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise with their "facts". For me caffeine is a terrible thing. My blood sugar, stress hormones, my ability to think and remember ANYTHING all gets severely messed up. I don't know about anyone else but that certainly didn't feel like a health benefit to me. After 20 years of this GARBAGE. I.AM.DONE.

Do you take any supplements or use anything for energy/mood? Or Just eating food and drinking water? I quit coffee a few weeks ago. I plan to stay off; hope I don't go back.
@parttimepart3 жыл бұрын
I just drink water and one alcohol free beer in the evening. I do not think that anyone who is healthy really needs supplements. Eating healthy, a constant sleep rhythm and working out helps. After a few weeks, staying off coffee is a mental thing. If you need something for your mood, be proud of yourself every day you continue living without coffee.

I had the suspicion that coffee was not good for _me_ at 19 years of age, which is when I was about to start at university (electrical engineering). It almost makes me manic (I believe I will conquer the world essentially or writing a really long comment/email) but after and hour or so it sends me into a swing of intense low mood (such as wanting to kill myself). I have also experienced having bad sleep patterns and being tired and anxious when I have periods of drinking too much coffee. So I stopped and didn't drink it for an entire sememster. However, because of living in Sweden the social pressure was huge to drink coffee, pretty much everyone drinks it and have done so since they where children. I thought that I might just be a fool and started drinking again. I like the taste and feeling of coffe, so why not. It's very difficult to avoid it in Sweden because it's so tied to the social life, visiting your relatives or going to a job interview. It's rude to say no to a coffee. Since then I have had periods where I try to quit for some time, but always come back to it. Now I am about to start a PhD (electrical engineering) and I'm trying to cut down on the coffee again, hopefully the social (and academic) pressure won't win over me this time.

They did METH in the war? Holy shit! lol!. Yeah...caffeine sucks. This is my 20th time quitting all caffeine. The memory of the negative side effects gets wiped. That's why I keep going back, only to be reminded why I quit in the first place. Over and over and over again. Why is that?. Anyhow I am quitting all caffeine for good. I quit over 2 weeks ago. I wake up at 4am 6 days a week for work at 5. I was not doing to good with this schedule while drinking coffee. I couldn’t control my use and it was making me extremely stressed , temperamental, and felt like I was drugging myself with caffeine every morning to feel ok. I started biking to work and waiting a few hours before I had my first cup and that’s when I started realizing I was already awake and using coffee was a cop out just to feel a buzz / high from caffeine. I quit smoking pot about 5 months ago and I was drinking a lot alcohol at first to cope and sleep. But my sleep was completely wrecked every night with alcohol and eating junk food right before bed so one morning I got a cup of coffee and it felt good and it became a habit. Finally i cut back my alcohol to about once a week or once every 2 weeks. That’s when I realized I should be feeling really good being sober but the coffee was stressing me out so much I couldn’t truly enjoy the gift of sobriety. I remember getting ready to stop drinking coffee it feels weird and you question if your ready to give it up. But once you get through the first week you really don’t miss it. Now as I’m drinking ice water in the morning hydrating myself I’ll think about coffee and think about how strange of a habit that it to think something that taste terrible it’s hot and you got to add sugar and cream just to make it palatable. But ya early mornings are stressful enough with out adding caffeine. I read one thing that really stuck out about caffeine and it was that caffeine decreases blood flow to the brain. That’s when I was done. Now my mornings are really pretty chill. I wake up at 4 to jazz music , drink about 32oz of water and use the bathroom . I then take a 15-20 minute shower get cleaned brush my teeth and by the time I’m dresssed I’m ready to go to work. Before I was more worried about making a cup of coffee then I was brushing my teeth. It’s a disgusting habit. Now I feel and look better after only 2 weeks.

I have about 10oz of cold brew coffee every morning and avoid caffeine after 10 am. I drink it for the taste; it doesn’t keep me awake. I sleep like a baby and don’t have withdrawal symptoms if I skip a few days. No issues with focus, either. The credit card analogy is a good one. Coffee, like credit, is perfectly fine, even beneficial, if not abused. If you enjoy coffee but can’t have caffeine without negative effects, there’s always decaf.
