I put a stop to that real quick. And it wasn't like he was significantly richer either. I guess it's how they class you and treat you accordingly that hurts the most.

They're comfortable, (I think) they look alright, and because of the way I buy my clothes, I don't have to do a lot of outfit planning. It's very convenient. I also absolutely love dressing up. It's so fun to throw on my suit and a tie or a bowtie, maybe add a pin as well. It's incredibly fun, I just don't do it often since I'm not about to show up to my classes in a suit or dress shirt. It takes a bunch of time compared to throwing on my regular outfits. That doesn't mean I won't do it if I'm invited somewhere with a dress code.

The College Creeper Story: I went back as an older student and went to one party: when I was 28, I was invited by the host for their 22nd birthday. I stopped by to be nice, but I've never been much into the party scene. It was awkward and it literally felt like I was surrounded by drunk children. Not once did I think to myself that I wanted to do anything with any of them and I left pretty quickly after the host tried to hit on me. Lesson learned: don't go to the college parties when you're a grown adult, even if you attend classes with the people that invite you.

For the story about not inviting the friend to not ruin the aesthetic: Prom is a big event for most people, but isn't that important to some people. She may not have gone because she just didn't think it was worth dressing up for what she might have seen as just a school event. The book club, however, is likely something she cares about considering she is a part of it. In addition, her friend is throwing the party, so it's entirely possible she would think a party her friend is throwing for something she presumably cares about is something worth dressing up for.
@tsumichama8 ай бұрын
Tbf she did say she was intending to go in her regular clothes. It was still wrong to not have invited her though, but telling her that dressing up was mandatory. @@tsumichama 25:50 she didn’t say that she intended to go underdressed though? She said she was upset that OP wouldn’t want her there even if she were to go underdressed. @@corruptedfantasy the exact wording was "She said she was upset that I wouldn’t want her there even if she wore her regular clothes" so that's what I was referring to But tbf it sounds like maybe it wasn't clear in the invite whether costumes were optional or mandatory. If she has a past history of doing c) I sure as hell wouldn't have invited her at all. If not, I would have invited her with that explicit request.

The one with the book club. As someone who didn’t go to their prom, it was so expensive to go, and I had to rent my graduation gown, which took priority. Now, also as someone who doesn’t like dressing up, I agree with chanse: just talk to your friend! Tell them what you plan and that dress code is required. But the thing that gets me is how OP talks about what her friend wears and not “dressing up”. Her friend feels comfortable and confident and OP just let her know in the worst way what she thinks of her.
