I (as the DM) began doing this with my group (with the agreement of my 5 players) but unfortunately, when they realised that they could be asked to do it 2 times back-to-back, they weren't happy about it. @Kay_Jay_Pea2 жыл бұрын
@@yiqing743 I love the way the show is currently structured, but I do think I'd like it even more if the whole thing had more of a "shooting the shit" vibe. I don't want to compare 4SD to Talks Machina because I think they deserve to be seen as separate entities, *but* one of the things I wish they would take from talks is the laid back, less structured/segmented feel of the show. My favorite parts of this show so far has been the parts where they're all just hanging out and chatting about the show or whatever else.
@sleepscience_2 жыл бұрын
I’m gonna disagree and say that the potential structure that exists within the show is beneficial and helps to keep it moving and prevent things from getting stale. As Sam very expertly demonstrated in this episode, some of that structure is optional and as the host you can choose to ignore or loosen those “timed segments” if you want to, but the fact that they exist always gives them something to transition to when they need it. Also, trying to maintain the veneer of keeping that structure and somewhat failing at it is part of what made this episode so chaotic and funny, and I’d say that’s at least partially inherent to the premise of the show, which I like. Also worth pointing out that timed segments are necessary in general because the show itself only has so much time to happen. Unfortunately at the end of the day what we are watching is not just people hanging out on an unlimited clock doing whatever they want, the people on camera are doing their jobs, as well as the crew actively filming them and keeping the other elements of the show running. I imagine most of these people are getting paid for their time and it can only go for a fixed amount of time.

It seems this episode of 4 Sided Dive might have actually been recorded after tomorrows episode (episode 22). Because Laura almost let slip something to do with Ashton that we haven't seen yet, before Liam stops her (14:50 if you're curious). So if your theory is correct, than Ashley won't be in episode 22 either, which'll be a little sad. I guess we'll see.

I feel like Sam is often thinking about the audience and how things are coming across. And he usually demonstrates a really good sense about what people watching would want, like here. Okay, my theory about what's going on with Imogen, her mother, and the Ruidis storm is this... So much of Imogens... 'flavour' I guess you could say, gives off a Wizard of Oz vibe, that I can't help but think of the Ruisid storm as a kind of trans-dimensional gateway, like the tornado transporting Dorathy. So what I'm thinking is... what if Exandria is like the analogue to Oz here, and while Imogen was born in Exandria, her mother (or perhaps someone else even further back) actually came *through* the storm from a different plain - or even parallel universe - making Imogen actually not Of This World, perhaps to an even greater extent than Ferne is. In this way, maybe her flavour of sorcery is explained by her bloodline coming from a place where the same rules of magic don't apply. Perhaps the shadowy figures she saw in the storm are in fact other beings still on the other side, belonging to the same world of origin, and her whole life they have being trying to find her through her dreams and bring her back through (or perhaps use her to bring themselves through) for some purpose? Maybe her mother went through the storm deliberately to escape them? Maybe she took something of theirs which Imogen has inhereted that they are trying to get back?
