Awesome! I did a unicorn party for my daughters 6th birthday last weekend and made the cake also. Next time level your top cake layer too and after filling your layers, before trying to frost the outside, chill the cake in the fridge so the filling sets to stop the cake from sliding. Then put plenty of frosting on the outside of the cake and use the scraper to smooth it and scrape the extra off. It makes it easier than adding and trying to smooth then adding and smoothing etc. You can also do a crumb coat (thin frosting layer) first and chill the cake so that you can then do your final smooth frosting

I had a stuffed unicorn, posters, figurines....all of it..lol so seeing this was beyond sweet. I loved that YOU did everything yourself & made the cupcakes & her cake. It means that much more, when it's made. The look of the Unicorn cake, looked like something you'd buy in a bakery...so perfect!! It all turned out PERFECT!!

What a great job you did! For future cake making you could always cook the cake 1 before then let it cool completely, brush sugar syrup on top of the cake (keeps it moist) then once it's completely cool. Wrap it about 3 or 4 times in cling wrap super tight and stick it in an airtight container. You can then take it out 2 days before or the day before whenever you want to decorate it and whilst it's semi frozen do your carving. It'll come out neater because the cake isn't soft yet and you won't get crumbs everywhere. Then ice and decorate and you've got yourself a lovely cake without all the stress. Cake will be soft and moist as if you baked it that morning

hey girl! loved the fresh flower touch! so special! and baking from scratch is something that you don't perfect on the first try! I have always done my cakes from scratch, but not a birthday cake! I am not a decorator! my daughter in law is really good at doing icing, so together we make a good team! the cake was really cute and I think that you did really good! next... tomato roses? do you make shapes with your veggies for your kids? my mother in law used to work in a college cafeteria and she perfected the art of making different shapes with her veggies and fruit, so much so that you didn't want to eat it, it was so pretty! love ya girl!

Ella's cake was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Just a tip for anyone else wanting to try it, use a bigger icing tip! It'll give fuller rosettes! But Tiffani, you seriously did a beautiful job with this whole party!

I'm not quite a professional yet, but I've been interning for my neighbor who owns her own cake business. My first solo cake was a unicorn cake and I must admit, you did fabulously ❤️ totally cute. I found the unicorn kit (horn, ears and eyelashes) at Walmart, but it was super close to the one you used! And those sprinkles to hide the little, tiny flaws, that's a secret my professional baker neighbor gave me. Works every time! You did wonderfully, little mama! ❤️

Great job on the cake and cupcakes. Store brought Frost is so hard to keep its sharp I’m surprise how well it held up. But you can also buy a 32oz of butter cream frosting from Walmart’s or target bakery. After making my kiddos cakes every birthday I finally learned of this which make its a bit more easier.

Great job. This is the theme for my Grandgirls in March. You gave me inspiration. A small hint whenever your using store bought icing add a 1/4 to 1/2 c of Powder sugar. This thickens it and helps it keep its shape. You are an amazing Mama!!!

My mom used to decorate cakes, she would just the long flat spatula to put the icing on and always had a bowl of hot water to dip it in. Icing doesnt stick to it as much and it's like a hot knife with butter. Itll smooth it out really quick! :) hope this helps! Cake and cupcakes looked awesome!!! 😍😍😍🦄🦄🦄

You can youse flower wire as well. It also alllows you to bend the garland to fit the shape of where your hanging it. You just like the wire through the balloon end and string them 😁
