I would consider myself an intermediate player but I still come back to your videos every now and again. You take the most simplistic version of a song and turn it into something awesome. Way to go Marty.

When I was a teenager, I'd sit for hours with a 45 rpm record player and learn the chords to songs. I was a good rhythm player, but had no other guitar skills, but I played well enough to impress a few girls, lol. Then came the post high school education, jobs, family, etc. and the guitar went into the closet. Now that I have retired, I picked up the guitar and thought I would like to really learn how to play the guitar. This has become a daunting task and really has not been a lot of fun. I discovered your videos and wow, did you ever put the fun of guitar playing back in my life, plus, I am still trying to learn the guitar from the beginning and it is not as bad a task as it was. Thank you so much for making this an enjoyable process for me.

Hey Daniel, I'm soo glad to hear your picking it up again. And I really appreciate your comments, sometimes I wonder if I'm really helping the people that view my videos so when I hear a story like yours, it makes it all worth while. Keep on playing-even a little every day, and I'm sure it will all come back to you in no time at all. Thanx again for your comments and thanx soo much for watching. Good luck and let me know how it's going.

Hi, great video. I was wondering if you could explain what you're doing at the beginning before you move from G to E minor. It looks and sounds like you play a different chord between the two, but I can't figure out what it is. Thanks for any help!
@partymartyeasyguitartunes171110 жыл бұрын
***** It is a simple run from G to Em, it goes like this: 1st note - middle finger top string, 3rd fret 2nd note - index finger top string, 2nd fret 3rd note - Em chord - I hope this helps and good luck
@JonahPRoss-nb6tt10 жыл бұрын
Thanks!
@RSEFX9 жыл бұрын
***** I agree re: the first notes/strums. Confusing, in that he didn't explain, first, after having stated that it's simply G chord, Em chord, C chord etc. on the "run", but then when he goes to play it he sneaks in a variation, which, to someone trying to follow exactly what he said, is confusing. His explanation should say something like "Well, I'm going to play a couple individual notes in the G chord before playing a full Em chord. Little details like that may seem obvious to him, but, frankly, it's not so simple to others trying to learn the very BASICS, before going on to do adding nuances. (In fact, as he's playing, he's also adding a little additional fingering instead of just straight chords, which, at the beginning, is what I thought he said was all that was involved. I think it'd be best for him to have played the simplest version first, then a second go-round with these added touches explained before playing it again. I mean, I know this is for free, so I hope he wouldn't take this the wrong way. I appreciate seeing the song "instructed", but feel it has to be very precise, clear, every step of the way.
@RSEFX9 жыл бұрын
***** Wow, just saw this was 5 months ago. Oh well. Anyway, back to those first couple of strums: I swear he's playing some kind of chords rather than just notes just before going to the Em, which his reply doesn't explain. It has a great sound, tho; a rich quality, which is why i found it so intersting/and wanting to know exactly what was going on, top to bottom on the fret board...I guess I should be addressing this to him! (Maybe he sees these "replies"). Great song, and playing.
@partymartyeasyguitartunes17119 жыл бұрын
RSEFX I do get these comments and am going to try and clarify. First let me say there is no smoke and mirrors. I apologize if my explanation was not as spot on as it should be. I'm trying my best. In my explanation above my mistake may be that I called the run from G to Em 1 note each which isn't correct. It is actually 3 notes for each which looks like this: 1st 3 notes - middle finger top string, 3rd fret D, D, U - 2nd 3 notes - index finger top string, 2nd fret D, D, U - 3rd 3 notes - Em chord - D, D, U - 4th 3 notes - Open strum - D, D, U - 5th 3 notes - C chord - D, D, U This is a very common run for all levels of player and sometimes I take that for granted and I don't explain all the details. As far as any other little extras I throw in, This is a habit of mine to make the song sound a little better. All I am doing with the C chord is suspending (lifting) my middle finger on and off the string, and when I play the G chord, I sometimes use my index finger on the 2nd string from the bottom in the first fret to blend the G chord with the upcoming C chord. I do this in a lot of my vids as the learner still knows what chord I am playing so I feel I can get away with it and it's sort of a subtle introduction to the next step and I encourage all levels of player to do the same. Make it your own, I encourage you to feel the music and not rely so much on theory. I understand at first that is difficult but it does come with practice. Now that I've toally confused you, lol. Anyway, thanx for your comments and concerns and I hope I helped you out a bit. Good luck and take care

it's going from the G root note, up to the F# on the Low E String, then going into the Em chord. so essentially it's like going 3-2-0-0- then from Em to C

@ejwalker36784 жыл бұрын
I like your playing and singing, but the song is in the key of A, not G. People can use the same chord voicing you do by using a capo at the 2nd fret.
@paddyc82003 жыл бұрын
You can you the same chord “shapes” with a capo on the second fret and you will then in fact be playing in the key of A as the capo will move the chords all up to steps.
