The thing is, PND's music is the kinda music that grows on you. I was young when I first heard "welcome to the party" Naive, innocent and child like. I hadn't seen or experienced the world for what it truly was. Once I reached adulthood that track hit harder then before. He appealed to my younger self through the light he sings, but soon you reach adulthood drinking the bitter truth behind what he sings. Leaving you with a self retrospective mind with a fear of a world shown to you in a seemingly glossy manner. Yet you know deep down in your gut darkness hides between the smoke and mirrors it presents. Thats why people love and hate this side of him, its a side we all become aware of noticing but never get to fully express because everything is seemingly designed to be ok. We are taught to present ourselves as perfect examples into the world based of ideas, and constructs made by people no smarter then ourselves. When we fail to abide by these constructs we become wounded. The truth is PNDs transforming that truth within himself through redemption. He's truly becoming free, not dark nor light, not positive and negative, just a vulnerable human being. This shits more then music..this shits the transformation of a blackened hearted soul. Redemption.
