You made this look so easy but you should have mentioned undoing the front sprocket before cutting the chain. I followed your instructions except grinding couldn't get the link apart I had to resort to bolt cutters and had a hard time as the previous owner /mechanic used threadlock on the front sprocket. Love the video but if you could instruct us novices about the problems that can arise so we don't get caught out that would be great. Thanks.

On a cb500x 2019, you DON'T have to break the master link ( aka completely break apart your chain) if you're not replacing the chain and are trying to replace the rear sprocket. After loosening the axle bolt's nut on the right side and loosening the chain-tension locking nuts ( one on each side) that will enable you to slide the entire wheel forward enough to loose enough chain tension. Remove the axle bolt ( 11 ish inches long ), and you'll need to kind of faniggle with the rear brake assembly lifting it at a small angle as you're working on sliding towards you ( to the rear) the wheel as the while you're able to remove the chain from the rear wheel's sprocket little by little. When you're ready to reinstall the rear wheel, as you're feeding/putting the chain on the sprocket, start from the top, otherwise you won't be able to get it on as their is an L shaped ( kinda) piece that is welded to the swingarm frame on the left side that gets in the way otherwise. I just finished my project of going from front/rear of 15 tooth/41 tooth stock sprockets, to 16t/40t sprockets ( I wanted lower rpms at the 60+ mph range for slightly better mpg as mpg starts kind of tanking beyond the 4300 rpm range...., about halfway mark of rpm). Remember these torque values, per honda themselves: Rear sprocket nuts ...85 foot pounds of torque/pound feet of torque Rear axle nut ( on the right side )...65 Chain adjusting lock nut ..one per side of the bike = 20 ( it's the 12mm nut...the 10mm is for moving that long adjusting screw it is hard-attached to that literally presses against the square metal faceplate that the 11 ish inch long axle/bolt goes through) Hope this helped someone. I imagine most of this is similar for the 2013 through 2020 models with possibly some minor differences. Contact honda power sports or google a service manual if you can to confirm the correct torque specs for your make and model bike

Good video, I did this job last week on my own CBR954RR. Try to have a more steady hand the next time you grind the chain off, you hit the nut on the sprocket a little. :-) I saw you used original sprockets, so I guess it's an original chain too. why was the chain too long ? does honda delivers just 1 type of chain ? One note, the chain-glider has a down side also. You didn't checked. My chain-glider was totally worn on the down side. Because of a very loose chain and poor maintenance. It wears on the bottom when you decelerate. And last a remark for all the bikers that saw this videos, the original front sprocket with the rubber plating on the sides is so important, the non OEM sprocket doesn't have those, and I red a lot of complains of chain-noise because of the missing rubber plating.

Im actually going to see one this weekend. 2008 CBR600rr Graffiti Edition. 20k miles. Guy said it turns over but won't start, has been sitting for a year and a half, he tried a new battery but still not starting. May be bad gas or spark plugs. (Plugs I doubt). It needs sprockets and chain, forks resealed, oil/ filter change, coolant flushed, brake pads and brakes bled, tires, and a front upper cowl fairing... WHAT COULD IT BE THAT IT WONT START? I DON'T WANT TO GET A MONEY PIT. Thank in advance Partzilla.😘
@PartzillaParts

Test the spark and make sure it's getting it to the plug. Bad gas is an option, but usually it will start and just run really rough. Could be clogged jets, bad pump. Bring a multimeter and test the components.

2009 CBR600RR. I just replaced the drive sprocket with the 'supersprox 1370-16T' product. I think it is a little thinner than genuine. Even though the bolts are tightened, the sprockets do not come into close contact with the washers. Pull the sprocket by hand, it move with 1 ~ 2mm gap. No problem? What action should I take?
@PartzillaParts
@PartzillaParts 7 жыл бұрын
If you can move the sprocket by hand, that is a problem. That sprocket should be a tight fit for an OEM replacement. Might want to double check your installation.
@LeeSeoungSu
@LeeSeoungSu 7 жыл бұрын
First, thanks for the kind answers. Sprockets - Washers - Bolts There should not be a gap of 0.1mm between? (I think it's common sense to do this) Installation was done correctly according to the regulations. Sprocket - Washer - Bolt tightened correctly. (However, there is a gap of 1 to 2 mm between the sprocket and the washer.) To guess....So the problem is that 1370-16T is thinner than OEM. (I discard the OEM sprockets when replacing...Because can not compare each other ... confusion and concern ...)
@PartzillaParts
@PartzillaParts 7 жыл бұрын
I have no experience installing that specific brand of sprocket, so I don't have first-hand knowledge. They advertise as an OEM replacement, so it should fit as such. 1 to 2mm of play seems like more than it should be on the shaft. .1mm is inconsequential. I've never had a motorcycle that had that much play on the front sprocket.

@PartzillaParts
@PartzillaParts 6 жыл бұрын
The axle itself just won't slide out after you remove the nut? That's strange, should come out pretty easy. If it doesn't come out with a couple hits of a deadblow, I would take it somewhere. That's not normal.
@miguelmendoza909
@miguelmendoza909 6 жыл бұрын
Are you too scared to hit it hard enough? Maybe your pounding isn’t exactly pounding, though even pounding shouldn’t be necessary. Try relieving vertical pressure on the axel by having a friend lift the wheel while tapping on the axle. Otherwise, yes, take it to a shop.
