There may have not been music videos in the 1950s since the only ones close to that was certain shows on ABC, NBC, and CBS. But heck, I would gladly dance to music form the 20th century any day of the week as much as the present. But again, the dances people do nowadays are just outright strange or not something I would dance myself. But something like this, swinging back and fourth between your partners is a ton of fun, and also very simple (nothing too chaotic or breakdancing for once).

Back in the fifties we had specific named dances with steps, such as, Bunny Hop, The Monkey, The Twist, Mashed POtatoes , The Stroll and many more. Kids today have no idea how to dance to a beat, they just jump straight up and down with hands in the air. I call that "calisthenics" !

I was born in1953 and the Twist dance craze came out in 1962 and let me tell you it was huge at the time. I remember girls dancing in the aisles of the local movie theater when ever a twist movie with Chubby Checker in it was shown. Blackie Marsalis, the floor man/projectionist armed with his flashlight, shooing them back into their seats. Great times.

Такой класс достигается упорными занятиями с детского возраста в танцевальной школе. У меня знакомая пара шестнадцатилетняя, занимаются 9 лет танцами, но ещё такой четкостью движений не обладают. А они в спортзале проводят всё время, кроме учебы, на соревнованиях выступают, в призёрах часто. Так что с людьми на дискотеках тут сравнивать некорректно.

😄👍Those days were wonderful I can tell you because we went to the local dances every Saturday and dressed just like that. The girls with their brightly coloured gathered dresses & skirts and cancans with flat heeled rock & roll shoes. We twisted & shimmied our shoulders, did the monkey, through our partners over our backs or slid them through our legs. Oh my oh my! 😁😃 🤼‍♀️ It was so much fun. I feel so nostalgic when I see these old videos. Those were the good old days in my teens and early twenties in Africa. ☺
