Canada: 1st Degree murder charge laid after cop is killed in Toronto 7-2-2021

At midnight this morning, a police officer was injured in a serious incident in an underground downtown parking garage at the corner of Queen Street West and Bay Street in Toronto, Canada. Initial crews on scene rushed to access multiple victims with the mention of one VSA patient that stands for Vitals Signs Absent. Witness reports mentioned that an apparent incident broke out during which one person was run over by a vehicle inside the underground structure. Paramedics and firefighters frantically looked to find the position and reach the victims before transporting them to a trauma center. Plain clothes officers who were deployed urgently to the scene blocked the entrance to the large parking lot located under Toronto City Hall at the corner of Queen and York. Another crime scene taped with a crime line is set up further east near another entrance to the same parking garage. Witnesses of the incident who worked the nearby popular late night city canteens were told to pack up and that the area would be shut down until at least tomorrow. A forensic identification vehicle used as a command center has been deployed for investigators working on this case. The police officer that was hurt was transported code 3 lights and sirens likely to the nearby trauma center St. Michael's Hospital. The patient carried away in a stretcher in this video is believed to be one of two other victims who suffered less serious, and what are believed to be non life-threatening injuries. A suspect arrested at the scene overnight has already appeared in court today following the deliberate and intentional act. The 31 year old man Umar Zameer ran over the police officer causing fatal injuries and was charged with first degree murder.

You have the best and ultimate most incredible footage. You captured it and i have to give you kudos...wow, wow, wow....anyhow, thumbs up. I drove by there this morning at 9:40 AM. I seen all the news tv guys there, about roughly 15 police cars and detectives around. I was going to park and video, but there wasn't action, just alot of media and cops, so i continued on. Dude you are incredible, your dedication, to hustle and head out to capture video....

Wow, thank you for that. I made this one a special case for me as I am extremely sadden by this and knew it was major from the begining. Hearing the fireman's tone and the shaky voices of paramedics indicated to me that it was very serious. I hope the least I can do with these images is pay a tribute to our fallen cop and provide insights and answers for people. And yes, even aftermath videos are worth filming so please send if u have some.

@@pascalmarch you know what? you're right..i should have video the scene this morning...something was telling me to stop and video. i roll with my scanner and camera every single day as i work all around the city and incase i see something i start to record. Well, thank you for the push, i'll always record. I' m assuming you record continuously as you had the COMMS from the fire dept. Then you edit it out or delete whats not important...good stuff.

Umar Zameer has been granted bail after being charged with 1st degree murder. Prosecution has requested publication ban on the reason why. Defense lawyer wants the ban lifted so the public is privy to this information. Is one innocent until proven guilty or it depends on whom the accused is and whom the victim is, in Canada?

Because they are working in a plainclothes capacity dealing with criminal organizations that would love to get info on plates and identification. Last thing that needs to happen is for plates be leaked an officers using those cars to be known.

@@kissingbanditt The point U/C cars is that they’re as undetectable as possible. Being portrayed in this setting identifies them as Police vehicles which can be compromising because criminals watch these videos to learn tactics.

@@kissingbanditt That was a pretty long winded response for a pretty simple few points. Whatever it is you’re on…it seems pretty great! No one is saying he has to blur anything. Obviously he doesn’t. You’d think most people know that by now. It’s certainly not the media’s responsibility to do so; however it would be a common courtesy if they chose to do so. Policing has been around forever and agencies are pretty innovative with tactics to keep ahead of game. Cheers. Stay safe.
