It's a different nomenclature. It's not Goan, it's East Indian Marathi, the original inhabitants of Mumbai. The community is known as East Indians as in the past Mumbai and the Konkan coast were under Portuguese rule and the area was referred as East Indies.

East Indian, means Portuguese East Indies. Since most Konkan Christians on the western coast became Christian during 14-15 Century while Portuguese was the dominant colonial entity. West Indies is what we call present day America and central American islands.
