This melody is the most beautiful thing that can be! I have known it since childhood, I listened to it when my piano teacher practiced playing it. Then, as a child, I simply liked the melody, but now I’m an adult and listening, I understand that many feelings are mixed here: anticipation and anxiety, mystery, memories, love and tenderness, the breath of autumn, maybe even hope for salvation, or vice versa, tragedy and loss...A truly powerful, soul-touching, wonderful melody, beautifully performed! « Passacaglia » is a musical genre practiced during the Baroque period and a dance just like the « Chaconne ». Originally imported by Spanish sailors, it became a dance prized by the nobility in Europe. At this stage of its evolution, it becomes indistinguishable from the chaconne, because the names seem interchangeable according to the composers. It is then a stylized piece, in three beats, with a slower rhythm, sometimes a little more solemn, and which can reach important proportions. The passacaglia, like the chaconne, is used exceptional in the suite of dances, of which it is almost always the final piece. On a musical level, around 1620, it became a piece with variations on an obstinate bass, a short harmonic pattern, of a few notes, repetitive, with a lively tempo, it is essentially music for keyboard, and sometimes used for singing. This musical form was equally intended for improvisation, the obstinate bass lending itself particularly well to it. We will rightly appreciate the pianistic refinement by Vika Kim. Agree the tempo is good for expressing the melody. But I feel there’s too much rubato as a Baroque piece… doesn’t feel like Handel anymore…

За окном море или океан - я думал осень - а по дате весна))) Но мелодия минорная, осенняя - как будто играет сейчас по всем тем кто ушёл и с кем мы так и не успели попрощаться - Се-ля-Ви - Такова жизнь. Жизнь, смерть, любовь, расставание, грусть, тоска, печаль, надежда, счастье и всё это по кругу((( И мы бежим и не можем остановится - а когда останавливаемся, становится скучно и кажется что жизнь проходит мимо нас и мы опять бежим пока не споткнёмся... насмерть((( мы никак не можем найти счастье и любовь, мы бежим за ними и не догоняем - и постоянно убегаем от не счастья и страданий, но они постоянно нас находят и догоняют))) Потому что сансара порочна, а жизнь есть страдание)))
