Thanks ALOT ! Same problem, followed all your steps, it appears to be the clock spring on my side. Edit : it wasn't the clock spring, just bad electrical contact behind the airbag, probably due to aluminum oxydation (22years).

Hello mike, I have the same issue with my car (same one but 1.9 tdi manual). Plus i see both airbag light and airbag malfunctioning message on the dashboard.. My horn is linked with a wire to one of the pins of the clockspring both sides in order to work, when i bought the car it already was in that condition and i didn't notice.. Would you suggest to change the clockspring in this case, because of the airbag error? I had my test via VCDS and the error is "resistance too high driver side", i already checked the seat cable but everything's fine..

I am not up on airbag troubleshooting but would confirm the horn works perhaps with a bypass test before and after the clockspring to confirm the issue is in that connection

Did you figure it out? I have exactly the same problem. I also got that airbag problem another time from changing the seats without disconnecting the battery. Clearing the error worked since it didn't come back.

So, mine does the opposite the left side when tested lights up but the right side on relay terminal doesnt. Does this mean the problems between the relay and the horn or the steering wheel to relay.

What about a vw beetle 1999! No horn, headlight, or wiper blades

Your test light was connected to what ground? I have one, but the cord is really short.

Hi sounds like you are referring to the clock spring, I believe the part number is 1J0959654BK with ESP and 1J0959653C without ESP however confirm with a local dealer

Hi Mike, what year was the Passat you were working on? 2013 Passat here with identical issues. Will check fuse 10 in the morning. Thanks for the video, I know diddly about imports, but suspected a fuse with so many "unrelated" systems failing at once. Power to the horn upon arming alarm, know there is voltage and I haven't looked at a thing. 16 year old behind the wheel for two weeks and it died, go figure.

Hi in my case both the horn and relay were OK. It was a bad fuse that I assume sends power to the steering wheel controls including the horn button.

You can try a similar approach and start in the middle with the relay or start with the horn and work backwards.

Hi the wiring diagram shows the same relay powers both horns, I would check each horn with a test light to confirm power is getting there, could be a wiring issue or bad horn
