The song is a conversation in between one self and one's previous self, the first one justifying and asking sorry for what he (therefore they) did with their life. We are the decissions we make and the way in which we react to the circumstances we are faced to, that s what define us and our life. We are who we choose to be.

Rosenberg has some seriously amazing stuff. sad that the general public only know "let her go" which isn't even in the top ten best songs he's had, let alone the best like people think. passenger is just Mike and whoever he's playing with at the time, some permanent or recurring artists, some brand new for one song. modern day New radicals British singer/songwriters are starting to get their due respect.

This song is about addiction and vices. We rise to meet them everyday and change but we always find a reason to continue them. It doesnt make us bad people. We all have a beast in us. It just takes different forms. We have free will. Most of us are good people. But most of us are just a little lost for whatever reason for a little while but we find our way.

I rise to meet you As your trust dissolves to shame Oh, this innocence has turned and lost its way Retrace the footprints Off the path from which I came I'm the beast in you, the beast in meBite my nails Right down to the skin Where one trust ends and another lie beginsPatch over holes in my weakened heart Which angels hold And devils pull apartI'm the beast in you The beast in me The bitterness, the jealousy The part of you that never sleeps

For those who do not know. This song has deeo meaning, wich can not be delivered if some did not take away. From the beginning, only as bad as the maker who made me- Call me/you what you will but then you would also be calling our "maker" that as well

Though there is the aspect of the maker being even better than those in humanity that CHOOSE to excel. The choice, between being best or worst is where will might lead, and the spectrum inbetween is a playground where one would choose to end on the positive side afterall. Very meaningful and retrospective, wonder how mike feels about this now that he has had much success commercially, relatively speaking.

oh wow I totally miss herd that line I thought it said "I drill holes in my weakend heart when change gets old we pull ourselves apart" I guess goes to show we tend to all hear different meanings and story's to music that's why vague songs are so comforting I suppose just saw arguing about religious tones and the meanings but I feel that's not the intention there's a clear reason he tends to us vague story's or metaphors instead of exact names or story's or etc (normally at least) because art is something we can all pin ourselves to it's what makes it so capturing is that there's this feeling of connection to art what you see or hear in a painting or song is really for you to enjoy and I feel we should let people experience there own connections to art and not spend time forcing different interpretations of it

Woah!!!! This has lines from Allen Ginsberg's "a Supermarket in California in it! That's where the weird random lines come from! "Which way are we going, *Walt Whitman*? The doors close in an hour. Which way does your beard point tonight?" (stanza 3) "Will we walk all night through solitary streets? The trees add shade to shade, lights out in the houses, we'll both be lonely." (stanza 4)

Bilel Hamri think of it as a person who has commited a sin and he is trying to explain there is a dark side to everybody and none of us are saints. "i'm only as bad as the maker who made me" since everyone is made by god he's saying if he committed a sin so does everybody. "sinner in the darkness liar in the church" is referring to the things he has done wrong. "teardrops falling memory recalling , ghost in your dreams and your secret recordings" this explains how after you've done something wrong it is like a weight on your conscience and it always hurts looking back "I rise to meet you as your trust dissolves to shame, this innocence has turned and lost it's way" This is about the people who trusted him and now are ashamed of him because of what he has done . his innocence is gone in their eyes. "patch over holes in my weakened heart which angels hold and devils pull apart" there is a struggle going on inside his heart. He knows he is a good person inside but there is something swaying him astray. now the difficult parts "singer with the sound down, winner on the come down poet in an overcoat looking for a suntan" you can't be a singer without sound and you can't get a sun tan in an overcoat. This is probably referring to him trying to find salvation but all his attempts are futile just like somebody in an overcoat trying to get a sun tan. "fear in the stuntman sneer in the playground bottle in the hand of a dirty old drunk man" fear is deadly for a stuntman and bottle in the hand of a drunk man could possibly kill him too (overdosing) kind of like how sins eat you from the inside. This song is still very vague and poetic with many interpretations ......... loosely this song is based on someone who has done wrong hence the name "wicked man's rest" Only writers will know the real meaning
@th3dashingguy9 жыл бұрын
***** i don't feel like he is saying god is bad........ he's merely saying that human beings can be as bad as they have been created to be. It's human nature to make mistakes. We were not made by god to be perfect. We were made to be flawed.

things and people are the way they are because of influences around them (only as bad as the maker who made me) like fear(created by the mind), the needle when you use drugs(it isn't the needle, it's the people using them) bottle in the hand of a dirty old drunk man(we blame the bottle) all those things. :)
