Had the same problem on Arcadia last year, people on next balcony smoking. Did disturb us as we spent a lot of time on balcony looking for northern lights.

Ex-smoker and current vaper, been on 3 Disney cruises in the last 3 years and would never dream of smoking on the balcony, I would have complained every single time until they did something about it so i totally agree with you.

You told her that she couldn't smoke on her balcony so even if she was a new cruiser that should have made her at least question whether it was allowed. The main reason you cannot smoke on your balcony anymore, is it caused a major fire on a Princess ship some years ago which was blamed on ash falling onto a balcony below and setting fire to some towels. Safety on a ship is super important and you were perfectly correct in reporting this issue regardless of any impact to the smoker.

100% with you on this! Nothing worse than a smoker right underneath you and the smell travelling up and around other people. They should take your advice and put signage on the doors to the balcony/rooms to inform them all about the smoking situation. I would have reported the smoker too. Ignore the clowns on here and their stupid comments x

No smoking on balconies, only in designated areas . That’s what is broadcast on both off our p&o cruises

I totally agree with everything you are saying. I’m a non smoker but if people want to smoke that’s up to them but rules are rules for safety reasons. Reporting them is the only way forward. Some people just disregard rules and if you tackle them direct they will just continue even more to proof a point so reporting is the way to go. As for you complaining about the cabin you pay good money and things should be cleaned properly. Agree signs need to be in place where there is no smoking. There are designated areas where you can smoke, but for some it’s too much trouble to go there as they think they are on holiday so should be able to smoke where they want. Keep up the great video content, just love how you say it as it is. Xx

Rules are rules Danny so if it’s her holiday ruined by her getting told off or yours from her smoking below your cabin you are 100% in the right: Without rules chaos follows!

It's so awkward with any of these types of things, same as when people argue on the facebook groups, you don't know who they are or what in theory they could do regardless of ship rules ... you did the right thing as you paid for your vacation and it is a dangerous thing

Totally agree with you about the smoking on the balcony, it’s annoying when on holiday at a hotel and people are smoking on the balcony it travels across everyone else’s too but even worse on a cruise from a safety point of view. She might not of known but then when you and Ben both mentioned it she should have been apologetic instead of continuing.

Agree with you 💯 Danny. You shouldn't feel guilty for complaining about the smoker & your cabin. I thought it was common knowledge that smoking is only allowed in designated areas. Probably sticking a no smoking sign on the outside of all cabins may help. Unfortunately people will break rules. We've got an inside cabin on the Aurora in September so no smoke issues. OH another Karen,,,,Yes, no smoking anywhere that is not a designated smoking area, this also includes cabins. If you report it on P&O cruise ship cabins manager specially, they will ask the passenger to stop. However if they continue after a warning, passengers have been disenbarked at the next port and they have to make their own arrangements including accomadation to get home. If you have a vid camera on your phone, film it and show reception. This is the way they will only take action. Only smoke detectors in cabins and public areas including toilets and corridors. Saying that, Arcadia's standards have nose dived in the past few years. If they dont take action, you can write to customer services lodge as "formal complaint" including date of cruise, cabin number and details who it was reported to. Crew these days dont give a crap as they dont want conflict. PS tell your mum this no smoking includes vapes. Sure they have it in the Q&A section but who reads that. Me. not allowed, smoking, vaping or bonking on the balconys.

I would be annoyed too tbh. I don’t care if people smoke but it sounds like they were constantly out there smoking which ruins your balcony experience. Hopefully P&O contact you xx

It would have pi**ed me off tbh , at the end of the day if I’d of paid all that cash to get gassed out by cig smoke while I want to relax in my cabin , don’t feel bad cos I’d of reacted a lot worse , no way I’d be waiting months / years for a holiday to have to put up with that .

I don’t think you should be upset about this smoking situation… I was on this same cruise as you and there were plenty of designated smoking areas. I am a smoker and would never dream of smoking on a balcony it is really dangerous!! I understand the part where you are trying to play devils advocate but as a smoker the first thing you do is check out where you have a cigarette!!! I also agree about the cabins, ours really smelled of sewage and it was not a very nice experience at all…
