Hervorragender Spirit eines sympathischen Sportlers. Und dies trotz eines Rennverlaufs, der nicht nur, aber stark von glücklichen Wetterumständen geprägt war. Aber noch ist die Hälfte des Rennens zu bewältigen und auch 1000 nm sind kein unaufholbarer Rückstand. Mit einer solch’ positiven Einstellung ist noch alles möglich. Schon jetzt ist das Rennen für Team Malizia und Boris ein Erfolg. Da können auch krampfhafte Versuche, einen Kommunikationsspaß (Boris Angels) zu diskreditieren nichts dran ändern. Go Boris, go!

Boris, we are with you everyday… Sometimes, I noticed your eyes are tired or your melancholy, and wish we could do more for you… This adventure pushes your limits and your thoughts. However, I believe that such extreme moments are also a privilege, like participating to this race. While you were sailing through the beautiful fog (that must be magical to experience), you saw clearly important matters to you… I’m sure when you’ll land back on the soil, your perspectives on life will have changed/evolved; I expect your family to be even more at the forefront than before (including your dog!). Sometimes, melancholy can trigger a new you… More focused, more determined, more present, more loving, etc. Remember to enjoy the journey and continue writing; it’s good for the soul! Two down, one to go! On Tuesday I was at the natural history museum and I remembered they had a Roaring Forties diorama. I went to go look at it and imagine how the Vendée Globe boats are now in the same environment, but the whole Pacific Birds exhibit was closed. :-( Be safe in the storm and fair winds to Cape Horn!

Hi Boris, zum ersten Mal schreibe ich nun auch hier zur Vendée Globe 2024 / 2025. Diese, aber sicher auch jede andere VG oder Transatlantik Regatta, sorgt bei allen Seglern für mehr oder weniger Gefühlschaos, das kann sehr schwer zu ertragen sein wenn man sich weitgehend in totaler Isolation befindet (abgesehen von den Kommunikationskanälen über SAT). Das Rennen und dein Vorankommen beobachte ich jeden Tag. Dabei freue ich mich dass du offensichtlich nach einigen mental 'downs' wieder gut drauf und zuversichtlich bist - dazu gibt es auch allen Grund. Der Atlantik war hart als du den Anschluss durch das Wetter, Wolken und Wind hattest - das ist einfach Pech und kann jedem passieren, die vorderen neun hatten mehr Glück, das ist wohl alles. Nun erreichst auch du die Halbzeit mit geschafften 50 % der Strecke und hast eine sehr gute Perspektive weiter nach vorne zu kommen und vielleicht im Pazifik von dem Malizia Konzept zu profitieren. Bei dir ist alles noch offen, es ist noch eine sehr lange Strecke. Die VG 2020 / 2021 hat gerade im Atlantik gezeigt was möglich ist um wieder nach vorne zu kommen. Ohne das große Pech mit der Kollision kurz vor dem Ziel hättest du echte Siegchancen gehabt. ALLES ist möglich. Wenn du auf die vorderen Boote pro Tag 24 SM gutmachen kannst landest du vielleicht noch auf dem Podium. Was mich bei Dir und allen anderen Seglern besonders beeindruckt ist die Fähigkeit mit sehr vielen Problemen und Defekten am Schiff selbst klar zu kommen, das allein ist sehr beeindruckend. Ich wünsche Dir weiter viel Glück, haltbares Material, guten Wind und den richtigen Riecher bei der Routenwahl, alles gute aus Buchholz, Detlef
