Hi everyone! I (somehow) passed the N2 exam recently and I thought I'd share with you all the study materials I used. I would recommend that you study at least 3-4 months before the exam (and not in 2 weeks like I did RIP).
Materials:
Nihongo so-matome N2 kanji: ankiweb.net/sh...
Kanzen Master N2 Grammar Book
Kanzen Master N2 Reading Book
Nihongo no Mori: / freejapaneselessons3
Official JLPT Practice Book: www.bonjinsha.c...
** A few of the tips I used were from KemushiChan's JLPT videos :) Please check out her channel! / kemushichan
❀FAQ❀
Name? Linda
What does sakana hime mean? Fish Princess
How old are you? 23
What's your ethnicity? Vietnamese and Chinese (but I can speak Japanese)
Where do you study? Ohio State
Why Fish Princess again?? It started out with me buying a realistic fish pencil pouch on amazon and becoming know as that "one weird girl who won't shut up about fish".
❀Equipment❀
Nikon D3200 Canon G7x Mark II
Final Cut Pro

Hi Everyone! Thanks for watching this video! For the DOKKAI (Listening) section here is a detailed list of what I did to prepare: 1. Read the questions first 2. Circle any key phrases or words for the introductory and conclusion paragraph that you think could relate to the questions. 3. For the paragraphs in between, I would quickly skim (concentrating on the first and last sentences for each one). The reason why I do this is because it’ll usually say “でも” or “しかし” which points to a contrasting view from what the author ACTUALLY thinks, and can mess up a student from answering the right question. A majority of the questions will ask you “What is the the OVERALL message that the author wants to convey?”, so don’t be too distracted by the small details. I hope this was helpful and good luck with the JLPT!! Ganbatte!!! Good luck!

Very good tips on the listening section - drawing cross and fill in keywords, b‘cause I always freak out during this section for the last 3 JLPT exam and missed out vital info when I taking notes ☹️

I like your passion and enthousiasm. Not gonna lie, most of the video that talk about preparing for N2 are a bit depressing in my opinion, but you made it fun and challenging at the same time and we leave your video with a bit of hope and not too discouraged. If i may, you look like the cool and strong sister that the little sister asks for advice in a teen movie haha. Thanks for this video !

That's a cool trick for the listening section! I'm gonna practise using it. For me, my life **cough** actually does depend on passing N2 this July because I'm planning to work in Japan after graduating from Japanese language school. I'm only 2/3 through Sou Matome's Grammar book (a way of dipping my toes cuz I'll also be going through Try!N2 and スピードマスター. After using 新完全マスターfor N3, I never wanna look at it again. The format is seriously headache-inducing. 🥴

I wish I knew that tip about the long passage. I just took the N2 a few days ago and I think I had the opposite problem you had since I started on the reading section and took more time than I would on mock exams (Probably due to sheer nervousness) so I had to guess on quite a bit of the last two sections of the grammar portion due to time constraints. I’m fairly confident I did well on the listening, assuming I didn’t horribly misunderstand what they were saying/made a ton of careless mistakes. But man waiting these next few months for my results will be excruciating. I’m just going to assume that I failed to soften the blow assuming I did, and feel even more happy if I passed.

Currently I have finished the みんなの日本語 Series, and I am looking for new books to continue studying to get a higher level of Japanese. Now I have looked online and am thinking of either purchasing books from the sou matome series or from the Kanzen master series. Do you have any recommendations?
@SakanaHime
@SakanaHime 3 жыл бұрын
Nanook Deerenberg So in my opinion, I heard that the Sou Matome series is a little bit more user friendly but they don’t go in depth as Kanzen. Most of kanzen is written in Japanese so I thought I gained a lot more from it. Outside of JLPT, I started using the Tobira series.

How long did it take you to get your N2 since the first time you studied japanese?
@SakanaHime
@SakanaHime 3 жыл бұрын
Saipal singh I took Japanese in HS but didn’t really take it seriously until I went to Uni. So it took me about 3 years of formal classes + self studying on the side to get to the level of where I’m at now! You could probably do it in a shorter amount of time. It just depends on the person :)

Not going to lie, it was pretty brutal haha. I've been studying Japanese for about 3-4 years formally through my uni when I took N2, but I went to a program that focused entirely on speaking Japanese rather than learning it. I had to really force myself to study a little bit of kanji everyday!
