Sonnet/Station No. 14 - Jesus is Laid in the Tomb.
Then to the tomb, as if this were the end.
But such another end we’re blessed to know!
An end impossible to comprehend,
But one foretold millenniums ago.
At daybreak on the first day of the week,
Mary of Magdala goes to the tomb,
But finds it empty even as we speak,
And there, one dressed in white dispels the gloom.
“Why seek the living One among the dead?”
He asks, then follows (surely with a grin):
“He’s not here but has been raised, just as he said…”
And thus, from life to death…to life again.
Each Easter, we recall the sacred arc:
With Christ condemned to death, his Passion starts…
