Sonnet/Station No. 7 - Jesus Falls the Second Time.
Next Jesus falls again, like déjà vu.
He’s down. He’s up. He’s down, but stirs again,
The same as prizefighters are wont to do
When beaten, and refusing to give in.
If ever, ever in the cosmic scheme,
A prizefighter was worth his weight in gold,
It would be Jesus! But, of course, it seems
Just thirty silver pieces, paid the owed…
So, like the champion the world needs,
He struggles, rises, takes again his cross,
And further on to Calvary proceeds,
While knowing all too well, the final cost.
He’d called it; now, he’s living out the plan,
As women weep, and try to understand.
