Thomas in every interview: *goes on a profound, cogent diatribe on an esoteric topic* "I hope that wasn't too scattershot " Host in every Thomas interview: "No, that made total sense" *asks incredibly relevant follow-up question*

Every time I think Thomas has done himself one better, he does one better than that. This broadcast displayed Thomas's learning very well. Very worth the time.

I'm so thrilled to see Mutually Assured Conversation back in action! I enjoyed this conversation a lot and was very impressed by Thomas777's grasp of church history and history in general. Well done to you both!

In the "Recovery" or 12 step space, the founders from the 1930's talk a lot about medical, and especially psychoanalytic intervention to go along with a spiritual 'big bang' that starts the journey. But today's recovery community *IMHO* are relatively contemptuous of psychoanalysis, seeing it as a waste of time or a scam - and hold the spiritual aspect as both necessary and sufficient. So 12 step also has become less mechanistic and 'science-y' along with Iran, Evangelicals, Catholics and even Jews.

I agree that one's denomination has been the primary division between American whites, but I have no faith and nor do my parents. All of my grandparents didn't practice a religion but were nominally Christians of different denominations. Religion was never a topic brought up. So then, what does that imply about my identity in relation to my recent ancestors? The only thing I have to hold on to is my European heritage. I'm am also not a cultural Christian. I guess I'm a nationless nationalist.
@smlbarnes Жыл бұрын
If you are of European ancestry and grew up in the West you are a cultural Christian.
@smlbarnes Жыл бұрын
I have no overt "religion" in my immediate family. But it's obvious I'm at very least culturally Christian, likely a cultural Anglican.
