"Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world." What you are describing is that ideas provide leverage and high quality ideas increase the length of the lever. However, it's important to remember that ideas alone aren't enough; they're just the starting point. Without a fulcrum, which in this context represents hard work and dedicated effort, those ideas remain dormant. Building a framework to test the foundational strength of these ideas provides a solid base for your fulcrum. This framework serves as the support system that will strengthen your ability to leverage those ideas and, ultimately, move the world.

I get so annoyed when in the middle of something I DO want to watch, an ad breaks in showing some woman, young enough to be my daughter...who I DON'T want to watch. Always sipping a cocktail, lounging by a pool (is THAT an algorithm or what? LOL) She then announces that she made 'fourteen thousand dollars in two days'...First of all, I wish her well but I don't care. And secondly, it's a boldfaced lie.

A lot of people here seem to be pushing back on your definition of passive income, but frankly I agree with you. No output happens in this world without input, and I think your definition of leverage is better than "passive income" as it's commonly understood today. If I had one point of feedback here (and maybe for your next video to answer) is that you mainly explained here how to generate good ideas that would provide paths for effort. What I'd like to hear from you is how do you determine which idea to focus on or direction to take after you've had all these ideas. Time to go build some leverage, thanks for the insight!
@marosgregor9035 Жыл бұрын
Hi, I understand what are you trying to say, but just can't agree with your premise what passive income is. It definitely requires work, usually a lot in the beginning, but after the initial period it generates money with little or no effort on your part, thus at some point becomes passive income. As an example let's say I spend a year writing, publishing and marketing a book with a nice profit aka standard value exchange for the work I've done, then I move to another project and just completely forget about it. And from this point it becomes a passive income stream. Depending on the quality of work I've done, the book will sell years or decades without me doing anything except collecting royalties...
@veemon92804 ай бұрын
you would still have to actively advertise the book. Unless your book becomes a smash hit success like Harry Potter... you will have to still actively advertise your book, or else the sales will simply dip off. That's not passive.

The reason you cant calculate your hourly rate is because you Are in fact getting passive income. You cant calculate your rate because your videos will generate income for many years. Which is great. But again, thats why passive income is a real thing.
@steveantonioni Жыл бұрын
I can calculate my hourly income. It's simply how much money I've made (output) divided by how many hours I've put in (input). But I don't keep track of my hours and don't care to. It doesn't matter that my videos will generate income for x years. I can always divide the money by the hours. For example, if a video made me $10K over its lifetime and it took me 10 hours to make, the fact is my input on that video was worth $1K an hour. All "passive" income sources can be calculated the same way. It's not passive. It's leverage.
@TomScryleus Жыл бұрын
@@steveantonioni but Stephen, it does matter how many years. And because you dont know how long your videos will generate passive income, you can't calculate the hourly rate. only estimate. But because I think the quality of your videos is outstanding, you can estimate many many years. :)

I have SO many ideas about SO many things constantly it’s quite overwhelming and stressful because it seems like being home with my toddler I have very limited time/resources to implement them. Finding even 10 minutes to write in the evening helps but it feels like I have to choose writing over tidying the kitchen/house for the next day. Aka I have a dilema of keeping up with domestic duties and creative output. It seems this is the modern dilemma. I feel like if we were able to co-habitate and share tasks we could free ourselves up for more of the creative expression and less of life maintenance.

not seen the video yet (im sure its awesome) but the title is not true. I have several passive income streams. yes they do require a bit of pre-work, but they absolutely are passive. I have some digital products that have generated passive income for 5 years without me doing anything.
@C_oboe Жыл бұрын
In the video he talks about that - you may or may not not have had to do a lot of work, but you had to do *something* - ie in your case you created and launched digital products, and either handle the ongoing sales yourself or you hired someone/created a system to manage those continued sales. That is not “no work.”
@TomScryleus Жыл бұрын
@@C_oboethe definition on passive income is not ”zero work”, its minimal work. And the difference between passive vs active income is if i get paid for the work for the hours doing the work. In active income you trade your time for money regardless of the outcome. And you get paid once.

@@TomScryleusyou're 100% correct, don't waste your time arguing with someone who do not have passive income. Writers and Artist get royalty checks every month for decades and when they die, their family or estate get their royalty checks forever. The family don't have to work at all .

I would say that passive income requires not only time and effort but even money. For examples buying any sort of financial investments it requires MONEY to generate the interest or dividends, etc. so TECHNICALLY speaking the more money invested possibly the more passive income yelled (notice I don’t use earned) as technically speaking the person did NOT work for that income.

I saw the whole video now. I liked it and the overall message of leverage. But I think your definition of passive income is incorrect Stephen. Passive income is money earned with minimal effort or active involvement, typically generated from investments, rental properties, or royalties. The idea that its zero effort, that is and never has been correct. The term passive applied to a comparison to active income where you trade time for money. In passive income you trade effort for money. That is the distinctive difference. I think the word passive throws people off, because people assume it means zero work, thinking of lazy people who are passive. But it actually means minimal effort, not zero.
@steveantonioni Жыл бұрын
I disagree, respectfully. I don't think it's a distinction between time or effort and that denotes whether it is active or passive. Everyone trades time for money whether they believe/like it or not. Passive simply does not exist. Passive implies receiving output with no input. This is not possible. In reality, there is a spectrum of activity between more active and less active, and that spectrum is based on leverage, which is the ability to increase output (money) while decreasing input (time/effort).
@TomScryleus Жыл бұрын
@@steveantonioni Thats cool. and I agree, receiving output with no input is not possible. But that is not what passive means. The word passive does not mean, no input. It means "minimal effort".

All great ideas for generating great ideas. One challenge I see in my life as a gen x lonely gay man is the minority stress and anxiety caused by the extra work for making a happy life. A younger attractive white man like yourself who I presume has to make very little effort to make friends or dates or finding a sense of belonging and community has a good starting platform for having a good physical and mental diet. Have you seen anyone with minority stress (brown, black, queer, differently abled) or neurodivergence have success in generating leveraging ideas? I’m not dismissing your accomplishments and freedoms, just wondering if using your powers of empathy and compassion, what could a minority stressed misfit do for generating the mental conditions of being able to leverage…

lol passive income doesnt mean no work at all, it means you had to do some work once or twice at the begining, after that the money works for itself... (e.g. buy a dividend stock, setup an automatic monthly stock buy, publish a book/music/video) Being a realtor has nothing to do with passiv income, but buying a house and renting it out or house hacking can deliver passive income
@steveantonioni Жыл бұрын
I disagree. Passive implies no input. Because what's the opposite of passive? Active. What you're describing has activity involved. It's not passive, no income source is. It's just more leveraged than wage working for example. Leverage is the important part, not the active/passive part. This is my point.
@Xairos84 Жыл бұрын
@@steveantonioniI think I understand your perspective, but for the majority of workers, we view clocking in as the active part of income earning. So passive income is income where you don't have to put in that consistent time investment.
