Your lesson is very helpful. I appreciate it. But what about infinitive forms of Future continuous, Future Perfect and Future Perfect Continuous in the original active sentences? Please clarify. Thanks.
@KSEAcademy4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment! In those cases using personal reporting passives is probably not the best idea, because they won’t really convey the same meaning tense wise. You can still use impersonal reporting passives (It is believed that...). 🙂

It is a very good video in which u explained reporting verbs smartly, But forgive me sir there is something I couldn’t understand. Well according to the rule in personal reporting passive the past simple becomes to have + the past participle of the main verb. However, the first example u gave the police thought that the thief WAS hiding somewhere in the city Becomes : the thief was thought TO BE hiding.. why in this case the rule was not applied Hope you read my message and reply. Thanks for your efforts

First, I would like to thank you for such a beautiful explanation. Next, I would like to ask you a question about the verbs that are used with with IT as well as Subject. What I am confused about is which verb is used with IT clauses and which verb is used with Subject clauses. For example, verbs like Agree, Hope etc can be used with both IT ( Impersonal) and Subject ( Personal ) clauses or these verbs can be only used with one of the clauses????
@fontinstitutodeingles65543 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for this explanation! It was incredibly clear! There's only one thing I'm struggling with: if the original sentence has its reported verb in the "going to" form, how do we express the TO+INF when building a personal reporting passive? In one of your examples, you changed it into the present continuous infinitive, but then when you explained other ways of infinitives, you said that future tenses are expressed with the simple infinitive. So, is it "the president is believed to be resigning in 2020" or just "the president is believed to resign in 2020"? Thank you in advance!

Please make a video about PASSIVE REPORTING VERBS because I have watched lots of videos on KZbin but they make me quite confused if V1 and V2 are in the simple past tense or V1 is in simple past tense and V2 is in the past continuous tense. They have many versions of those, so the more I have watched, the more I become confused. Ex1: They said Tom killed the man. Version 1: Tom was said to have killed the man. Version 2: Tom was said to kill the man. So, which one is correct? Ex2: They said Tom was watching TV. Version 1: Tom was said to have been watching TV. Version 2: Tom was said to be watching TV. So, which one is correct?

You made a mistake here. ....... the thief was hiding...... Impersonal passive : ..... to have been hiding ..... When the statement is in past continuous, we must use to have been + gerund

Hello, I like all your videos. I have a question . In the minute 9:40 you put a sentence but I think it's wrong. I think you should put ''THEY'' instead of ''THE CLASS'' (In the example with reporting passive) . Am I right?. I'm not sure :/ Can you help me pleasee? :D

Thank you for this great lesson it is very helpful but ı have a question ıt was agreed that the class would have the exam next week, for this sentence why did we change the second part of the sentence”will” into “would “ you Said we always keep the sentence Same after that part for easy reporting passive sentences
