@@Imbetterthanu972you have to take in account that the french GOVERNMENT made all those decisions to starve and not care about the peasants. marie was literally only 14 when she entered the french court and judged severely for being a austrian & not producing an heir fast enough. she actually adopted 4 orphans showing how much she cared for the lower class. she educated them, housed them, and allowed her kids to play with other children from lower status to encourage them to see them as equals. she sympathized with them but her extravagance lifestyle took a toll on her. that was really her only escape and while i do agree she added onto the economy’s debt & did very little in her situation, it wasn’t like she was the one who made the rules. it was her husband, king louis XVI who was poorly advised to rule. both were literally only 18 when they became king & queen for france. part of marie’s spendings might’ve been due to her feeling different & difficult to adapt to the french court because she wasn’t educated enough to know the customs when she was back in austria. many of the accusations thrown at her were so barbaric & basically was turned into a scapegoat for the people who opposed the french revolution ideas. people labeled her badly.

@@Imbetterthanu972so u believe she was conspiracy? 😭😭 idk where u heard this but that was never proven. that was said by her enemies that added more fuel to her unpopularity in france. if she really did, wouldn’t u think her brother the holy roman emperor would’ve stepped in and did something about his sister getting killed? a war? like most foreign rulers would? nonetheless, i’m not saying she’s entirely innocent . nor am i saying she deserved all the blame. france was already in financial crisis due to the previous french king and there was so many other factors that contributed to the french revolution. the storage of bread, the weather, corrupt government officials, the catholic church, it wasn’t just marie’s lavish spendings
