27:29 props to El for moving on that quick bc I’ve been in El’s spot before and it hurts like hell. The guy I was dating didn’t even tell me until he came out bc he was like “im gay” to our friend group in front of EVERYONE at this soccer game after party we went to. Literally everybody who heard that was looking straight at me bc they knew- I WAS HIS GF and they were like “why is she shocked did he not talk about this to her before hand??” No. No, he did not. And he just went on this little rant about how his friend, well now his boyfriend, helped him through a lot (a lot like what🤨I still don’t know to this day honestly) and he now harbored feelings for him. I was literally just sitting there, I couldn’t believe this was happening. LIKE HELLO???? IM RIGHT FCKING HERE. Halfway through his speech he realized he didn’t tell me this before saying it in front of a whole group of people because one of our friends was like “so does that mean you and Daisy are broken up?”. He was like “weLL- uH- I- I- i- I guess so😅” LIKE IM TEARING UP AND YOU’RE LAUGHING😟And I didn’t really blow up like right then and there because obviously I’d a bitch or homophobic if I would have said anything negative when he’s coming out. So I just told him that I was happy for him because he was happy. But when I tell you I went home and cried that night…. My feelings were hurt above all else and then the embarrassment of the whole situation on top of it just made it 10 times worse. I didn’t mean to rant like this but I might as well finish what I started💀For like the rest of that school year, everybody was making jokes about how you date me and you don’t even like my gender anymore. Which…that made me mad for multiple reasons because one it’s his decision, it’s not because of me, it’s not based off of me, so don’t make it about me and two like seriously? He eventually said sorry but I don’t really care anymore because the damage was done. Sometimes people are like “if you really like or love that person then you can be happy for them no matter what” but after that I couldn’t even look at him without just feeling utter rage. Now I’m crying….well yeah I just- the situation in the video reminded me of this so I immediately stopped watching and came and wrote this essay **evaporates**

Honestly I think your feelings are completely justified. If I was there I would totally tell him he is in the wrong, because he is. Even if he is gay and likes his friend, he still should've talked with you about it first. Also if anyone says I'm homophobic because of this I am part of the lgbtq+ community-

This is so good!! I hate when people say "it's the 80s they won't be supportive" it's like they watched will their eyes closed. El was in the lab she doesn't have any homophobia or stuff like that and I'm pretty sure she would pan for the same reason. Will is gay himself and Jonathan definitely knows, Jonathan has been supportive since s1. robin is lesbian herself and we know that Steve supports. Mike, lucas and dustin have been protecting and standing up for will against bullies since s1 when they bullied him for being gay, and they never ever mentioned during that time that the idea of will being gay was the problem or was wrong, it was the bullying. Nancy is a feminist and just doesn't strike me for that kind of person for several reasons. Eddie is fruity himself and even if he isn't confirmed to be queer in some way, he's an outcast and has been called a freak his whole life, he would understand them. Joyce has been supportive of will his whole life and she has suspicioun that he might be gay but she hasn't said anything about it to him. I feel like hopper would also be supportive cuz when joyce was talking to him for the first time about will getting lost, when he asked "is he? " (about will being gay) I'd say it was for comedic relief or whatever but his face after asking that looks concerned and I feel like he asked that cuz he realized there was a possibility that will was getting bullied. I don't think max would be homophobic either, people need to realize that being gay isn't a new thing and it has been there since the start there was just no term for it and there was people that supported it too

Mike is dealing with internalized homophobia and that’s really hard to go through, and El just realized her Boyfriend doesn’t really love her like that which can hurt. However, they are better as friends in my opinion. I always enjoyed their relationship better when it was platonic (S1)

Mike does realize that even if your bisexual and your dating someone, looking at other people in that manner and saying I’m bisexual as a excuse isn’t ok. El’s question was “did you fake loving me?” Not “ you like guys too?” If that was her question saying I’m bisexual is the right answer but your still not in the right. You don’t even look at el like that, I truly thought for a while that mike thought el was a monster. When she saved him from his bully, he was so happy, his words when he broke his bully’s arm where not “what have you done?” But the time el finally protected herself he is scared? When people ship mike and will, I think it’s only fair to ship el and max. (Sorry too those who don’t ship) but i honestly don’t think it’s fair too el, but it’s not fair too will either, which is why I don’t support el x mike or mike x will. And I personally don’t think Eddie would be one too butt into other peoples business. He also isn’t one to judge a book by its cover either, because at first glance Eddie isn’t as kind as he actually is, so that’s what I thought was a little out of ordinary.

I get it, however, it’s a real thing that happens and you should remember that Mike is a teenager. No, I don’t think Mike thinks El is a monster, I just think he doesn’t love her like that and mistook it with Romantic love. It makes sense because in the 80’s (this still happens) the minute a guy befriends a girl, it’s immediately “Oh you have a crush on her?” Or “Is she your girlfriend?” And Mike’s friends were kind of doing that to him by constantly saying he had a crush on her. Of course, he is still wrong for playing with El’s feelings like that, and we should definitely call him out for it. However, do not go too harsh on him. (I’ve seen people wishing he was dead). Also, Mike’s family is quite conservative as they support Ronald Reagan. Who wasn’t a great person and also this is around the time of the AIDS epidemic, it didn’t mix well. Also El came fresh out of a lab and she got kissed by a boy within a week of being free, in fact, she called Mike her brother right before he kissed her (which was kinda weird Ngl) and I feel that she loves Mike platonically but doesn’t know it yet. This is my opinion, Mike should still be called out but at the same time I can’t hate him for it.

Mike is a teenager, and knows how to speak his mind, if you don’t like someone say that instead of forcing yourself especially after he was the one making the first move. One thing I don’t get about the wheelers is why it took so long to say I love you 😭

@@Hvvh944 I think it’s because they realized they don’t love them, and that actually is involved with their parents. I do think that Karen and Ted’s relationship has affected Mike and Nancy, but it’s not in the way most people think it is. Most people think they just can’t express love when it’s proven that they can say it and can express it, what really affect them was getting in relationships with people who they don’t actually love like that, like Karen and Ted. Nancy talks about it with Johnathan in S1 but there’s an irony to it because she’s with Steve, someone who she think she loves, but doesn’t and that’s why she couldn’t say it. Nancy is fully aware of her parents’ loveless relationship and subconsciously does the same thing. Mike, I am not so sure if he’s aware of his parents’ loveless marriage, and I don’t know if he even cares either. But he has been paralleled with them. In fact I’m S3, he wears the exact same outfit/shirt of both of his parents. In Ep 2 and 3, he’s wearing Karen’s yellow shirt, and in the Sauna, he’s wearing a teal shirt like Ted’s. It’s meant to be a parallel that Mike doesn’t actually love El like that. Especially when Ted and Karen got together cause of conformity. Nancy says Karen was young and Ted had a good job, so they started their nuclear family. Now, I’d like to mention that Eddie, which is someone Mike actually admires btw, talks about how conformity is killing kids. Notice how different Mike was acting in S4 between Ep1 and honestly the rest of them? Yeah, I think it’s weird, Mike is all about being a freak and an outcast, but he tries to fit in when getting to California. Also, Mike actually tried to keep in touch with Will, Dustin states the Byers phone line is busy and Mike has complained about it. Obviously those calls weren’t for El because he was already keeping in touch with her by letter, so it would make sense if the calls were for Will. But because of Joyce’s new job, those calls couldn’t reach to Will, so Mike was never really able to talk to them. Now, Mike should have sent a letter if he couldn’t get by phone, but at least it’s shown that he does care and wanted to stay in touch
