recipe for white sauce pasta
Ingredients:
For Pasta:
- Water as needed
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 cup pasta
For Sautéed Veggies:
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 cup mushrooms
- 1/2 cup bell pepper
- Salt to taste
For White Sauce Pasta:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup or as needed milk
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 cup or as needed processed cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Reserved pasta water
- Sautéed veggies
- Cooked pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Method:
1. Begin by bringing a pan of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt and the pasta. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes or until it reaches an al dente texture. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water for later use.
2. In another pan, add 1 tablespoon of oil. Sauté the mushrooms on high heat, then add the bell pepper and season with salt to taste. Cook for about a minute, and then transfer the sautéed veggies to a bowl.
3. In the same pan, add 2 tablespoons of butter and minced garlic. Sauté the garlic, then add the flour. Cook until the raw smell of the flour disappears. Gradually pour in the milk, stirring continuously, until the mixture thickens.
4. Add nutmeg, oregano, red chili flakes, and black pepper. Stir well, and then grate the cheese into the mixture. Continue cooking until the cheese melts completely.
5. Now, add the reserved pasta water and the sautéed veggies to the sauce. Mix everything together.
6. Finally, add the cooked pasta and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Stir well and cook for an additional minute.
7. Your delicious white sauce pasta is ready to be served hot. Enjoy!
