I tried getting dual citizenship back in 2001, I had all the information they wanted all typed up neatly, Houston consulate was giving me a hard time, and they gave my father a hard time years later when he went to the consulate in Houston, somehow they just don't want to work, ove those experiences in Italy with the carabinieri, they didn't want to be bothered. This is very good information you're giving I'm relaying this information to my sister.

When I was little, I helped my Sicilian Grandmother make pasta from scratch. She too, would lay sheets all over the house and we would lay them one by one to dry. A very fond memory for me.

I think that the changes are reasonable. If you want to be Italian, yes you must learn Italian. Diritti e Doveri.

Thank you for the heads up about the proposed changes. We began the paperwork 1 year ago and then life put it on hold; oh no! I’m sharing this with my brother and we will begin researching the proposed changes and get back on the application. 🌟

FYI Ezster you are correct to point out that the residency/living in Italy requirement will only apply in certain situations, and that is if you are claiming JS citizenship from an ancestor more than 3 generations removed. So, 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation applicants won't need to live in Italy to apply under the current proposal. As for the language requirement, I personally applaud that requirement. B1 is Intermediate level and can be achieved with about 200 or so hours of good intensive language training. I think anyone who immigrates to a country and wants citizenship should be literate in the language of their new country. (just my opinion and what my Italian mother had to do to pass her U.S. citizenship test in the '50's). But in any event, having been in the Peace Corps and required, within 10 weeks in the country (Ukraine in my case, a language much more difficult than Italian) to be at B1 or above level, I know it is doable. Again, my opinion, but it shows a commitment to fully integrating into the culture.

Ciao! I’m so pleased you had an amazing time on the west coast of Sicily. Your videos have been superb. I’ve just had the best day in Taormina and Castelmola today. These two places feel more & more magical every time I visit! I’d almost be willing to live in a tent if I could wake up to that scenery every morning. I have tears in my eyes when I’m taking it all in. I was lucky enough to see the orchestra playing at the Teatro Antico ( not the actual concert - it was about 6.30pm and I think maybe they were practicing / warming up but it was fine for anyone to sit and enjoy). Sending best wishes to you both!😘

Great info ~ love the pasta making. 😍 We love the west side of the island, but to be fair, Croce was born and raised outside of Palermo so that's where all the wonderful memories were made. Your tours look lovely. All the best.

Thanks for the info about the juris sanguis legislation proposals. We have a home in southern Italy and I’m eligible at this point to qualify because my grandparents did not become us citizens before my father was born so I’ve been thinking of doing this.Honestly I’m so overwhelmed by the amount of paperwork needed to obtain my citizenship so I’d love to hear another video about helpful ways to get it done, You both have wonderful videos btw, so helpful. We went to Sicily last year on your side of the island and enjoyed it thoroughly!

Wow! I can remember when USA citizenship requirement was denouncing your homeland. Sad that many who did that may never been entitled to regain that citizenship or even apply. Several European country have done same. Germany. Have yo be German blood, speak, read and write. It appears this is yo prevent any of the migrants access to citizenship. And to think many Italians migrated to South America and Mexico for 100s of years
