Great to see Glen keeping this beautiful Irish tradition going. Sadly, the 'oul sing songs - or 'come all yis' as we call them in Dublin - have all but vanished in most circles. Growing up in Dublin, at every family gathering I remember amazing 'come all yis' sessions in which my mother/father/aunts/uncles/grandparents/cousins would all participate.(one of my uncles is Tommy Byrne from the Wolfe Tones)So I love the fact that Glen is performing these 'oul gems around the world. I fear it is a tradition fast forgotten by the younger generations of Irish coming up. Give me a jar or two and I'll gladly blast out Raglan road or Monto. I just wish more people would. :) Good lad Glen. Keep her flat sssstick.

It was originally a Scots song taken from a poem called Armstrong’s Farewell’ written the night before his execution by a Border Reiver.

@@dannythered9124 It may have originated in Ireland.. then again Scotland got its name from the "Scoti" or "Scotti" a Gaelic speaking people who had come from Ireland around 500AD and settled in Argyll

its a fair try....but certainly not the best version....he has good pitch and a strong voice, but not the age and gravity and depth that this song needs....he sings it like a pop song, not like the lifetime's accumulated wisdom of an honest but drunk loser
