Corniche pasties are the greatest until someone farts. If you don't have rutabaga you can use a little bit of sauerkraut with the carrots to somewhat make up for it

For us native Yoopers, pasties are the ultimate comfort food, my ancestors even ate them in copper mines. While I love my gravy, putting ANYTHING but butter and ketchup on them while serving a side of homemade bread and butter pickles would ruin the feeling when I make them with the family recipe once a year. Besides, everyone knows only "Trolls" from below the (Mackinac) bridge and Canadians (enough said) put gravy on them! Lol

It's like air frying chicken instead of deep frying and buying canned greens instead of cooking them for hours with smoked hocks for a southerner, that's what comfort food is, looking back..
