There is this nauseating thing in this country about some poor people who seem to have the world's wisdom sitting on their necks. They tend to want to instruct and tell people and institutions how to use their resources, or how better they could have used them. You will see them in these comments, telling Pastor Otabil what he should have done instead of building this facility, yet they have not even built a hencoop to employ even one person. I bet you they may not even listen to the overall purpose of this facility and the vision driving it. That behaviour "no", is it witchcraft, jealousy or pride? Church of Pentecost built a magnificent retreat centre and in the heat of COVID, the church gave it out to the country to help manage cases when we had no spaces in our hospitals. Kasa saa, yet they don't add anything.

I am not against any church deciding to build a hundred thousand seater auditorium that is their money and prerogative. What in question is the public domain related to the leadership of this particular church in regards to the bank that went under and all the other banks that were insolvent and the government of Ghana had to use close to one billion dollars to rescue these failed private own banks. This is money Ghana did not have but the government had to step in to pay creditors so on and so forth. Recently Ghana's credit ratings were downgraded which means the government has borrowed to the level where creditors were scared about how Ghana will be able to pay the interest on those loans. The E- Levy was passed to reassure our creditors we can internally generate income to pay our loans, not the roads leading to your village. None of these greedy individuals who mismanage this collapse of banks has been arranged to answer any questions in the court of law, and don't think we will see that day, coming any time soon. Meanwhile, these greedy individuals who watch these banks collapse are walking free flashing their big cars, private jets, and big Manson's in your faces, while your village hospital, the road that kills 20 people every year that road who need urgent care will never see the day of light. That money that should have been used to answer your prayers and solve the problems of your roads is gone, and those roads will be killing people due to bad conditions on the roads. Don't blame your village witch they have done nothing, put the blame squarely where it belongs, some of you pew warmers don't know how money works, everything about money is related so pay attention to where your money is going.

I do not think, Mr Kumi is complaining of nothing. He is pointing out what if some of the money that the said Pastor was alledged to have taken from Capital One has been part of this beautiful edifice. Yes, it is a nice building and for whatever its purpose, we as Ghanaians appreciate it. But we must not lose sight of what recently befell the people of Ghana, some having their deposits used by the banks & other financial institutions for personal ventures. The government has to turn around, closed these institutions & found a way to pay these individuals. What really happened to the people who caused this havoc. They are walking free on our streets as if nothing happened. This is what Mr. Kumi is bringing to the limelight. I am sure, the only reason he brought it up was that this pastor's name came up in the open when those who had taken money from Capital One bank's names were mentioned. Let's correct the wrongs in our society when they come up. We can only improve our society when we don't shrug some cases under the rug like they don't matter. Definitely, Ghana has issues just like other nations but let us face them as they come.

It is a weak line of reasoning to think facilities provide value for money only when they "employ the youth ". You simply need to understand what a relationship with "God" means for people spiritually and mentally and the effect which it has on them materially to understand the need for the church. Now when you say religion is impeding progress in Africa is a vague and overgeneralized statements which beg the question what religion , which aspect of religion if at all . Consider critically examining issues rather than parroting empty narratives .
