I love getting these "random professional plays" types of videos from the algorithm. Sometimes it intuitively makes sense like a therapist playing Disco Elysium or a marine biologist playing Subnautica and I go in knowing broadly what angle they're going to take their commentary and I'm really curious what they'll have to say as a professional talking about something that obviously relates to their field. But then I get stuff like this which doesn't seem to connect intuitively, and it makes me so interested to see what angle the commentary is going to take because I genuinely have no idea. Dark Souls has deities but of course they're not much like our own, and so much of the story and lore is found in environmental storytelling and item descriptions. So I'm wholeheartedly curious what might stand out to you in the context of your field, and how you might react to certain things.

Same.. I’ll definitely be commenting on it as I discover the lore & world building of the game. When I finish my playthrough, I may make a separate video giving my perspective on the faith based elements of the game. Thanks for checking it out and leaving a thoughtful comment!

Welcome to Dark Souls! We got cozy bonfires to rest at. Everything's connected in some way for the most part (So figuring out directions is pretty important). This was also where 47% of the Dark Souls memes come from. DS2 is another 35% of the memes. Then DS3 the remaining 18%. Oddly enough that doesn't reflect popularity. Playing them in order is definitely a great way to acquaint on the lore of the world and what's happening to one that another can better explain.

You being half a second from kicking down the ladder shortcut back to the bonfire and then someone telling you there is another bonfire close and going back up to the bridge to your death was tragically beautiful. lol I am glad you are finally getting to experience this epic game!

Humanity: Allows you to return to human form but also allows you to "kindle" fires, which will give more estus. Eat 2 humanity, reverse hollowing and then kindle the bonfire and it will yield more estus when you rest/respawn. Also you are fat rolling, get that endurance up! :D

Huminity Tip: You will gain humanity slowly by defeating humanoid type enemies in areas where the area boss still exists. For example, defeating the humanoid type enemies in Undead Parish before you take out the Rooftop Gargoyles boss will slowly build the number in the black circle in the upper left corner of the screen. I think it takes about 30 defeated enemies to gain one humanity.

Dark Souls has the best lore and very memorable fights. Great level design, you'll really enjoy this game (ok Lost Izalith is not great) It's not too hard compared to future games, but just right for new players. I don't see you having much issue, but you have to play the DLC. Don't fight the final boss until you work your way through the truly magnificent bosses of the DLC. Dark Souls 3 has the best boss fight of all the DS game BY FAR and the best bosses overall I feel. DS1 is still a nostalgic masterpiece though.

I kind of hate it when a player, instead of catching every word and frame during the intro video, chats on abstract topics, reads the chat.... as if he doesn't care, as if it's not important. FromSoft and Miyazaki put a lot of effort and meaning into these videos, how can you show such disrespect. Every word, frame and sound is worth its weight in gold there. And it is critically important for understanding the Lore. If you want to make sure that the recording works, do it BEFORE you press start. or check after the end of the intro/dialogue. It is especially unpleasant to see this from a person who is familiar with From's games. This is forgivable for a newbie. That is, you played these games superficially, did not appreciate them at their true worth, their depth. Don't take it personal. I just want you to be attentive and thoughtful. Because there is a philosophical meta-narrative in this game that you will miss if you are innocent. And it is worth getting to know it, it will give your experience in the game integrity and meaning. In some ways, this is the basis of From's narrative design.

I understand and appreciate your perspective. Here's mine: it is simply a game. A great game, but just a game. I am far more interested in the people who choose to spend their time watching someone play and experience the game for the first time. That's why I prioritize interacting with chat over the game itself. The way this has gone for me in both Elden Ring & Bloodborne, is that I streamed the game and had a wonderful time. Then after beating it, I went back into it off stream for a NG+ play through and took my time to absorb everything. So don't worry, if I enjoy a game enough, I will definitely go back over it with a fine toothed comb and enjoy it for all it has to offer. But as far as live-streaming games goes, it's community > game all day.
