In response to Morfaty's comment: In Solomon's era, God's dwelling was in the physical temple so one would naturally expect such splendor. In our days, God is saying he no longer dwells in physical temples. He dwells in us so we must clean up for Him. Most of us so called Christians are guilty of most of the things he mentioned. In most churches, most people do not respond to the worship with enthusiasm when the music does not sound nice. The man of God also acknowledged his short coming by admitting that he was used to only one way of worship - singing western hymns. I believe we can all learn some lessons from what he said. Modern day Christians do not like rebuke or correction. We are so defensive. When we do not like what we hear, we would use phrases as "condemnation", "judgmental".

Pastors who made lots of money through the church, dressed in fine clothes, drive expensive sports cars, lived in palatial houses clearly show you their fruits of worldly characters and love of money & pleasure & themselves, unlike their professed Lord Jesus Christ who lived simply with few needs, who they professed they are following..."hyprocrisy!"

People go to churches to listen to the message of the true GOD !! Its not about new building or marina bay sands as you described . GOD's message deserves to be heard even in palace . The pastor may dress in fancy watches not pleasing to you. Yes the people still go to listen to the true message of GOD true sound doctrines and NOT judging others as the conservative always judging those who dress differently etc . People do not go to the Church to listen about judging others and criticising others !!! The believers all over the world need to know more about the true blessings and love of JESUS CHRIST and not judging other churches and criticising others - Mega churches should NOT BE CONDEMNED !! Its not about I WANT TO BE PLEASED !!! Its about JESUS is here to GIVE LIFE AND GIVE ABUNDANTLY = BIGGER CHURCHES should not be criticised at all as they once were small churches in rented places . WOW == this pastor is just like the TEMPLE PRIEST and THE PHARISEES !! who is so SELF RIGHTEOUS !!

Same sort of sweeping generalisation, condemnation and bigotry that caused me to backslide from a fundamentalist church like this. These are the modern day Pharisees. Under Solomon's reign, was the temple not a building of splendour? Why say that this is because current church-goers are lovers of pleasure? No doubt, many start going to church for all the wrong reasons. But why lump the ones who love God with them and condemn them all?
