James is full of many questions to whomever he was writing to. He says what then, was not, than if, for if, did not, do they not, what use is it, can that, if it, does a, can a, what is, is not? James was teaching us not to judge, only bless with our tongues, and dont hold on to your wealth when you see those in need and can help, and the blessings you will recieve after judgement when our flesh is dead.

Yes, I think the book encourages the reader to think rationally, for the purpose of understanding the teaching, thus, being able to explain how "understanding" evolves into faith.Thats my worldly view, but as a believer, understanding the Word is a gift from God.
