I like seeing the different shades of green. The cow is such an abundant animal. Puts on weight at the same time as increasing fertility of pasture. Amazing design.

@Russ Phillips Thanks! It feels good to see all the grasses vs the brambles. I know I don't miss getting cut up going across this pasture. I made sure to take picture as they will add to my custom grazing resume.

How absolutely gorgeous look at all that grass……,,, we’ve got so much work to do. Old soybean/wheat pasture that grows terrific mares tail weeds! For that reason come July/aug we’ve had to start disc mowing before marestail takes off and voluntary wheat hurts more calves eyes. Any suggestions appreciated

Looking great Jason, nice job! I'm seeing similar results here this year as well. Vastly improved grass density and my clovers are doing well. I had to over seed a bunch of clover though so I cheated. The damned serecia had the farm so long there just wasn't any clover seed present apparently. My clovers are pretty young yet so no knee deep plots of it. Yours looks amazing. Also making big gains on battling the serecia and briars. I've been picking wild strawberries while moving fence. Thediversity has really skyrocketed this year. Congrats to your girl on graduation.

Thanks Brent, it's been a lot of work! I am really starting to believe clover seed is already in our soils, all I need to do is increase fertility for it to sprout. Of course that isn't an easy task. Thanks. I can't believe my daughter is out of school. No clue where time went, starting to make me feel old the more I think about it. lol

@@GrazingAcresFarm I know most soil seed banks have residual clover seeds. Ive given this farm about 6 years for some to show itself but even after that and after an additional year or two of animal impact none was showing. I couldn't find a single sprig. This farm is likely an outlier though as it was absolutely beat to hell. It was grossly over-rated continuously for decades, over ran with serecia which is extremely harsh to other plants. Tons of soil disturbance to boot. I just reached a point I wouldn't wait any longer so invested in seed. It wasn't a fertility thing because what I've sowed is doing good. So dunno...I know I have clover now and I'm happy, lol. Yeah well, we're both getting old...probably better than the alternative, 😆. Take care.

Great job on the pasture and great before and after shots. Fly load is a bit heavy. Wrap as many 5-gallon buckets as you have in fly tape and put them in the paddocks you just moved them from. Near cow pats is best. You can put them in the same paddock as they are in, but the cows may mess with them. You're going to have a couple hundred flies per bucket stuck to the tape and you just unwrap the tape and throw it away.

Grass sward is looking great! Looks like your carrying capacity is improving, too. Instead of cutting for hay, why not skip a few paddocks and make a summer stockpile. You could graze it in July/August when everything else needs a rest before going into the fall.

Thanks! It's been a ton of work. I was thinking if we baled some hay it would save us some money come winter. I am hoping to graze a section we call the wetlands when it get dry but I like that idea of having another backup area too, great idea.
