Once again, we get more trash talk and street jive from Pat Bev. He never answers the question put to him about how he guarded Luka to shut him down, if indeed he shut him down every time. I glanced at the stats for games between the Mavs and TWolves this past season. I think it was only four total team matchups, two back-to-backs, and Luka didn't play in two of those. Pat Bev only played 25 mins in one of those games. So we're talking about two games when they matched up only part of the time, not the entire game. Pat Bev is a great defender, no doubt about it. But his talk is mostly hot air. Guarding any great player like Luka is an effort for the entire team, not just a single player anyway. This past season, Bev played in 58 games, missing 14; only 37 the year before. He averaged 9.2 pts, 4.6 ast, 4 reb and 1.2 stl per game. HIs contribution is clearly more on defense than on offense, when he's able to play. He was obviously so pissed at the Clippers for not trying hard to re-sign him, so he bad-mouthed them as a "weak-a&&" team mostly out of spite. He knows they were without Kawhi all year, PG half the year, and had to rely on other players to pick up the scoring slack that created, doing remarkably well with the players they had available. So I suggest Pat Bev focus on playing, staying healthy and keeping his trash talk to the game instead of trying to be a big talker on TV when he has so little commentary to offer.
