I've always hunted with a compound bow, but in the last 2 years, I picked up traditional archery. I got good enough that I don't use a compound bow anymore. I like the lightweight, compact takedown ones the best. I don't believe in taking long shots with any bow anyway, so the other benefits to me are more important.

Neat video. Jason and Pat are both good examples of people who figure out what works for them and dont worry about what other people might think. I think that is a great characteristic for traditional archers. It is not a cookie cutter sport.

I have hunted with a compound ever since i started bowhunting but ive really wanted to try a trad bow for awhile. I got lucky and picked up an old Shakespeare fiberglass bow similar to the one Pat has for 15 bucks. Ive watched alot of your videos and other trad shooters and im hoping to get it setup as soon so i can so i can start practicing. I dont have a lot of money to spend on custom bows so its nice to know these old fiberglass bows will work just fine

Yep when Pat was here hunting his other bow was a great plains bow company getting turned into a takedown to bring on his Alaskan moose hunt. He dropped the bow off there on the way out here and picked it up on the way back.

My brother has an early 1970's what I believe is a 62 inch Super Jet Recurve bow I used in 2000's but was too small in draw as bow needs a minium of 26--27 inches for a proper spine arrow to fly well from bow. For the Ben person Super Jet, bow was painted up by previous owner like Return of the Jedi Rebels Helmets color and added a spot for a weight/bowfishing real around same time. Poundage is 50--55 pounds depending on weather. I guess Super Jet because bow model is one of the few that had a few years where any recurve model was 62 inches in all fiberglass in early 1970's and has a rubber grip and spirals like a Ben Person model, also when we got to the fiberglass layer in a small section color was a marbled gray Where only Ben Person and Shakespear had bows in marbled color, but Shakespear never had a model in a duel side at 62 inches and grips looked different, plastic. Is a smooth bow in release because most of the recurves from Ben Person are like this but on draw has a stack early on like a compound then once past a point bow loosens up becoming easier to draw.

Thank you for your good video. I didn't expect a fiberglass bow to last so long. I'm going to make a fiberglass/carbon hybrid bow and hope that it will last for 60+ years. I think that a bow with wood won't last as long.
