This is the great Pat Metheny! I mean in order to be able to conceve and play this music you must have some serious background and spiritual awakening not only as a musician but as a human being. Pat is by far the greatest artist of our times and we should all be very glad that he is here with us. I love Pat. Just reading his interviews alone you learn so much not just about music but also how to be a better human being.

I have been playing this song for almost 15 years, ever since I found a tab online. Today I taught this piece to a student and just to check if the fingering was correct I clicked on this video.. only to find out he doesn't even play it on a regular guitar at all! Turns out that tab was actually an impressive interpretation for regular six-string.

yeah you're right - The tune is the same like in standard guitar, but without bass E and with added treble A. Look at 0:58 - it's C7+ - 3rd fret on bass A is C and on added A is 7th fret is E

It's a short scale guitar. You can play the song on a normal guitar with a capo on the 5th fret.

Wonderful song. A technical question, for guitarists: most of the people play this song using a capo on the fifth fret but in this video Pat seems to play it without any capo. I am not a guitarist but I wonder: shouldn't the chords Pat is playing on the vdieo sound on a different tonality from what it is heard?

It seems to me it's a standard tuning, it's just a small guitar with a shorter scale, that's why it sounds higher. I transcribed it wit a capo on 4th fret and it seems to work.
