A. Lumberjack You’re wrong. They have every right to do it. It is understandable when you think about it. An ordinary job it wouldn’t make sense but the NFL wants to control what product is being produced for them. They don’t want a player drunk or high getting caught on TMZ fucked up doing something stupid that makes the league look bad. They get paid a lot of money and that is not just for what they do on the field. They have to do interviews and answer questions with media. When you are in the public eye you are always on duty. Even popular media personnel get fired when they do something like getting a DWI or Tweeting something. I’m not saying it is all fair. When you work for a company they have that right. Your option is to not work for them.

It's like Shannon said this morning. The league tells you when they're going to test you before hand. Most players easily outsmart the system. Thank you for the honesty and introspection, Pat! From a fellow Yinzer As far as I can tell with Flash Gordon, it's never been just cannabis. If he has fallen out of sobriety I wish him the best and a righteous path onward But if you look at what he's been busted for, drinking on a plane? Who tf doesn't do that. I don't want anybody smoking spice instead of natural cannabis, cannabis is proven safe and god knows what else players are taking to dodge these tests.

I'm all for 2nd chances. We're human, we all mess up whether we know better or not. But let's face facts, He's been suspended 5 times. He's had help. He's been given every opportunity in the world to straighten up and continually pisses it away. Hard to feel bad for somebody who's been given that many chances.

On a human level I pray he takes control of himself. On a football level I dont feel bad because everyone else needs to abide by the rules and expectations. After a 2nd/3rd chance he should be done.

Sometimes addiction takes more than 2 tries to beat. If this is an addiction issue, you cant just expect someone to beat it just because. As someone who was once addicted to opioids, it's tough. Took me years to finally break myself away from it. Even some of the strongest people have their addictions.

@@thumpertx1 I mean that's fair. But at the end of the day every he, as well as every addict, is responsible for their own actions. His addictions and irresponsibility is going to cost him millions and MILLIONS. I felt for him after the first time and even at number 2, but this is number 5. Im a titans fan so i dont really have a dog in the fight, it's just sad to see someone that talented piss it away.

I don't know, man. I keep thinking of the support group scene in "Half Baked:" "Have you ever sucked dick for weed?" As Bob Saget said, if not, then it's probably not an addiction. I find it extremely difficult to believe that marijuana is a performance-enhancing drug; I also deny that it should be a level 1 controlled substance. Level 1: • The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse. • The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States. • There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision. As far as the first point, I would point out that "use" is not "abuse." I see no more abuse of marijuana than I do cigarettes or alcohol. Besides, we all know that marijuana only made it to the controlled substances schedule because of its vilification during the 1930s after hundreds of federal Prohibition agents were put out of work. The federal government saw a way to kill two birds with one stone by making marijuana illegal. in order to both provide jobs for its agents and to demonize the young, mostly black and immigrant, rising generation. Further as to the second point, I also see currently accepted uses for marijuana, given its nature in fighting pain without the use of opioids, in its ability to calm or halt certain types of seizures, in its potential for fighting the side effects of cancer treatment, and in its ability to control certain types of psychological issues such as anxiety. So, forgive me if I don't just take the word of a racist and arrogant government.

@@andrewneedham3281 I'm as anti government as it comes. This isn't a government issue though. This is an employer who is paying him millions for his athletic ability to catch footballs issue. I'd be willing to say most all people think weed being illegal is dumb. You know what else is even dumber though? Doing something you've already been suspended for while knowing youre being tested for it, and know is against policy but doing it anyways which resulted in a 5th suspension.

As a former addict, you don't "accidentally slip up," Pat. You make a decision. Josh Gordons drug problem hasn't become more painful than it's worth to him. Sadly, it usually doesn't until you've destroyed everything. Maybe never being able to play in the NFL again will hurt him enough to wake him up.
