Jessie B I partially agree with you but it was also proven that he had one of, if not the most severe case of CTE they had ever seen...especially for someone so young. It was mainly in his frontal lobe which controls judgement, personality and mood so you can’t say for certain “football had nothing to do with it”. It was probably a combination of the two.

The documentary lied about that. He never expressed concern for his safety, he said he wanted to get away from members of his family. That comes straight from the book the documentary was supposedly based on, which left out quite a bit of things that showed he lied multiple times to both the patriots and the NFL as a whole. The filmmakers were clearly trying to make both organizations look shady throughout the documentary

Hey Pat, check Kevin Turner's CTE story! He was fullback at Bama and played NFL for many years also (some time at New England Patriots and i think a super bowl with them). He was on the '92 National Championship team at Bama and played on team with Dabo. Matter of fact, his son plays Safety for Clemson currently. He was kid who made interception to end Ohio States last drive/Game (Nolan Turner). Sad stuff but will def get awareness out there about CTE if you will share with your viewers/listener's. There are 2 things that need to be addressed. First, CTE plays a large role here. Second, his upbringing trained and taught him to always act as if everything is normal. Sexually assaulted as a child? Act like nothing happened, everything is normal. Gay sexual relationship? Act like nothing happened, everything is normal. Combine the two things and you have an impulsive person who will have a tendency to resolve with violence and then no matter what happens, you act normal. It's really not hard to comprehend or that big of a leap.

I was diagnosed with CTE roughly 6 years ago. I’ve had 9 (Documented) Major concussions , multiple “Minor” and yes, it does bring a lot of pain and problems in my day to day life. And mental issues? Oh boy are they terrible and terrifying to be stuck in your own head BUT I also had a horrible and abusive mother and honestly? I’d still pick harming myself over someone else. Sometimes CTE ISN’T the reason, isn’t the answer and is only an excuse for questions we will never truly know. It’s a shame none the less innocent people had to die regardless and I pray they all rest in piece.🙏✌️

Yes, the only sure way to know 100% is dissecting the brain. But like everything else there’s signs and symptoms and if it’s severe enough, the changes in a person happen so drastically it makes it easier to pin point. There’s multiple documentaries and hundreds of studies out now that explain a lot of the issues that can arise and how to notice it while someone is still alive. A quick Google search can answer all your questions. I fell 30 feet 7 years ago and I luckily walked away with some damage but I’m still functional. I had no memory for 4 days, it was like 50 first dates. That was my 9th, when I started developing various issues and multiple tests were done over and over I was sent to a Nuro. Who started looking into everything I was dealing with as a whole. 1 symptom doesn’t mean you have it, but when you check 95% of the boxes it’s hard to ignore the truth of it all. Our brains don’t take abuse like we think.

I think the documentary came out probably 5 to 10 years too early. Think about it, in a few years when people who played during that time start running out of money they're gonna be willing to spill their guts on stuff from the inside that we don't know about.

I had totally forgot about him too until that doc came out. However, I just seen a doc that had a piece that talked about those Florida teams with Urban Meyer. Not one mention or highlight of Aaron Hernandez. I imagine kids growing up today seeing something like that and not having any clue about Aaron Hernandez. It's almost like he's been completely erased from history. I get that people don't want to glorify a murderer, but I don't think that hiding his story is the right thing to do either.
