Since the pandemic prices have gone up on raw materials . More than triple on some items . I think the baked shades that are made in Italy are probably no longer cost effective . In that case final cost should reflect that . If the palettes were one price with the baked shades why are they still the same price without them?

My first MS was Divine Rose 2. I loved the tones, the quality, blendability and OH the baked glittery shades! Just fabulous. It got me hooked on Pat Mcgrath and I have so many palettes of her now. It was also the first luxury eyeshadow palette I had ever purchased. I noticed single baked shadows are very expensive (like Bobbi Brown's), motherships used to contain 4 of those and then additional 6 'regular' shades and with the luxury packaging and quality, it justified the price for me. I loved playing with these 'artistry' palettes, with the transformative topper shade. One could combine them with other palettes, jazz up a mundane eye look. The sparkle and dimensionality in the astrals was insane, especially when the light hit. It's like you have a thousand mini-stars on your eyes. I also noticed they didn't fade or crease, even on my oily eyelids. I am thoroughly disappointed in what direction Pat went into and will not be purchasing motherships anymore. I especially dislike them not being transparant about this, as well as reducing the quality of the packaging and smaller pan sizes. Not to mention the deleting and blocking on ig, cancelled orders, bad customer service et cetera..

I just feel like Pat Mcgrath is no longer the special luxury brand. The indie market is just too good and paying $128 ($250 for me in Australia) for a sub par color story is just nuts. Unless she starts releasing new unique color stories soon, this brand will most likely fall off.

I’m 50 and had no problems using the dud shade. Mine came today I used that shade to see if it was going to be bad. I used pats wand first and then pressed with my ring finger the shadow onto my lid. Gorgeous look. I’m glad I decided to pick this one up.

Interesting, for me Huetopian dream is super versatile, I can get bronze/gold look, pink, coral, smokey brown with the trichrome colour, fairy magical with the two amazing unbeatable sparkles and the highlight shade. I love it so much ❤

I would'nt be mad about the color story if the quality was there. The baked shades were what truly set her brand apart, and now that she's not offering them, she doesn't have anything to differentiate her palette from all the other pinks out there. And the way her PR team handled customer feedback by just deleting negative comments was like giving the middle finger to her customers. Cause guess what, if somebody is complaining that your new palette looks like all your other ones....they probably already bought your other ones. Are those really the customers you want to piss off?

I agree with you that it’s the pinkest palette she’s done. I think it’s pinker than divine rose 1+2 combined. In the promo pictures I didn’t think the matts looked as pink leaning I thought they were more brown and peach leaning. And the special shades just doesn’t seem to be as special as they used to be in the motherships. Also I don’t think the creamy shadows will last as long as the baked shades, the baked shades last for ever, but I have a feeling these new creamy shades will dry out. Oh Pat 😪

I do own many PM palettes and like them, but I prefer Natasha Denona palettes. I mean your getting so many shadows (yes smaller pans) but I’d rather have that option. It’s also a great price point for all the quality shadows you do receive. Plus, you can create so many more looks.

They originally were, which is why pat would sell them in bundles and would release a killing streak of different palettes. The issue now, is her investors are controlling what she releases. She made the most $$$ from DR1&2 and the investors wanted her to continue that route.

I wore the red shade out at the weekend as it was the reason I bought the palette (at 30% off thankfully), but it was weird and chunky. And even though it looked great once I got in on, it fell all over my face and creased up almost straight away. So sad 😢 xx

Nah, I've been bored to tears with PML - the colour stories and ridiculously chunky black packaging just aren't my jam anymore. So, seeing yet another pink palette being launched had me crying laughing 😂. I reckon she's playing us for fools and believes she can throw whatever at us and we'll happily buy it. Hopefully, she'll see a downward turn in sales and (fingers crossed 🤞) she starts to actually LISTEN to us. I’m really disappointed with this palette. The metal base has been replaced with gold plastic because there are no baked shades. The crimson shade swatches well but is terrible on the eye. But my biggest disappointment is the Amethyst shade because it is a metallic and is exactly the same formulation as the gun metal grey metallic in the Moonlit seduction, being passed off as a special shade. It reminds me of ND Love palette on the eye. It all ends up looking the same and I can achieve these looks from Heutopian Dream.

Hi Morgan. I made it a point to use the Crimson shade on my lid because it seemed problematic. I applied it with a dense and dry brush *gasp!* and it applied great. I was surprised. I was very pleasantly surprised. I’ve worn mine for 2 weeks no stop and everyday a different look. I’m not a fan of pink but the bronzes in the palette really change it up. I’m 44 and I didn’t get on with the red astral shade. I tried to apply it with a wet brush and that didn’t do it either x

I used to be a PMG Mothership collector, so when I saw the word "Sunlit" I immediately pulled the trigger thinking it would be a summery color story, then was completely dismayed when I saw it was another pink palette! It is a pretty palette, but I plan to use it as a companion with some other more neutral PML mattes because you can ONLY get pink looks out of it. It’s beautiful, but a bummer. The ‘blitz astral” shadows are no longer baked. They are more like really good shimmers, metallics, or multichromes.

I actually really like that red blitz astral with that texture... I also prefer to have mid tone mattes like this palette has, as i have my own black and brown shades i can use... Idk, i ordered this palette and I'll update once i test out the formula compared to my other motherships(I'll update this comment), but from swatching in Sephora i think this was a super harsh review when a lot of the complaints come down to personal preference... I just wish it was a little more subjectively based

I do like this color story a lot, hence why the Huetopian is my favorite. And I love sparkly shades even if they are more flaky. Wish I could trade my divine rose 1 and 2 with this one honestly. That being said, I’m probably not going to buy this, although I really want that red shade

Great review Morgan!! Thank you and yes…the majority of us if not all of us agree with you. You should most certainly be added to her PR list as she could use some objective and non-biased opinions. I’m sick of this pink and gold 💩 buttttt (no pun intended) I purchased anyway, didn’t wait for a sale and talked major 💩 about it in the comments section of every makeup releases IG page I came across, lol. I’m sick of her and her investors! She could slightly switch up the vibes (doesn’t necessarily have to go the wild indie route) but like you stated a true lavender and deep warm plum shade would have made this slightly different and alluring. Hell, a special component/colored case would have made the blow of yet another pink and gold palette more bearable. 😮‍💨😐…🫶🏽 for you Morgan 😚

“You can’t fault the packaging.” Question: I don’t have this one (not planning on buying it myself), but I’m seeing comments from people saying that the back of the black packaging is different on this palette - gold plastic instead of the engraved metal. Is that true? 😬😬

I have the palette and it’s true. You don’t need the metal base because there are no baked shades.

I wonder if all of those pinks are dupe-able from all her other pallets and just mooshed into one? Sunlit seduction sounds like warm toned oranges, yellows, reds, with gold, bronze, silver shimmers with pops of blue and green! This is just like everything else 😂

I enjoyed your review, Morgan! Even the extra special effects! Lol I’m supposed to receive my palette this Wednesday, including the new eyeshadow primer and IntensifEYES duo, plus gift. I’m wondering if Pat’s new primer will help at all with the red shadow. Maybe the IntensifEYES will. I probably wouldn’t use that shadow much anyway, but it’s too bad it’s not the same quality as the rest of the shadows. I haven’t seen any reviews yet on the new primer. Did you order it? I’m curious to find out how well it works!

If I have the option of Clionadh or Pat McGrath, I'm choosing Clionadh everytime. I can get all special shades and they don't have to be PINK! She just isn't exciting and I think she's trying to market to the masses.

I will say even though it was a dud, the red really looked pretty with your eye color. It really drew my eye to that side and I think it made your eye color pop!

I wouldn't even be soo upset about the colour story, if the palette would still have the actual special shades that used to make these worth the 120+ price tag. This newest ones "special shades" are just really normal higher end shimmers that don't even have that special or even visible shifts to them. For a lesser price you can get a Charlotte Tilburry, Huda Beauty, Natasha Denona or even a Tarte palette in a pink neutral colour story or if you really want special shades then spend your money on some of the amazing indie brands. You most likely can get more spectacular shades from indie brands to your collection with less of a cost of a Mothership.

My first thoughts were to buy this palette right away, because I'm a fan of the brand...but the more reviews I see, the more I don't want to buy it. I really like MS I to MS VI, MS X, I hardly ever use the pink palettes, not my cup of tea..so maybe I'll buy this one on sale, or I'll swatch it first... Thanks for your extensive testing and different looks, they look great on you. Could you use the red Blitzshade with the brush better? That was the one eyeshadow that appealed to me, I would also use the pink matshade as a blush. I'm already looking forward to the Megapalette, which are much more exciting palettes for me, including Nocturnal Nirvana. (and I loved Bridgerton too)
