The problem is that she gives the same three color mattes in most of her palettes. They are different tones but pretty similar. I personally do not love all the red-based mattes. The mattes are the structure of the look. If they are burgundy, brick, or reddish pink, I am always going to get a similar look. If Natasha Denona can bring out different color stories and appeal to the masses, Pat can too.

Hard agree. That plus the very similar champagne, and at least one gold/bronze shade, we are getting almost the same palette on repeat (at least since DR1), with different undertones. I love her formula though.

I have the palette and am quite underwhelmed with it. The special shades aren’t as special, more indie. Dry and flaky. Not flattering on texture. It reminds me of the Natasha Denona Love palette on the eyes. I have a more neutral undertone and it doesn’t really suit me. I thought it might surprise me like Moonlit Seduction that is 👌. But I’m glad I have it and got it for 30% off. It goes well with sublime.

I think Pat McGrath is in trouble, something tells me she’s just using mostly the same pigments and crappy packaging because she doesn’t have the money to get any more color pigments and wants to see how much she can pull the wool over peoples eyes. I hope her brand dies on the vine at Ulta. The fact that she sued little indie companies for using the word “divine” like she gave birth to the word 🙄 makes me never want to buy anything from her again, even if she had cool packaging, instead of grown up princess doily crap 😂😂😂

Patty, all last 4 shades in the older palettes are baked. The glimmery, sparkly shades as well. 6:31 Their baked texture is why they are able to be used as a topper. And the thing is, they cost more to produce. For a long while, Pat has been cutting costs, but degrading in packaging and formula. Edit: guys, do follow Mariam A if you like Pat McGrath. Mariam is SO well versed in her reviews of pml!

I agree friend however not all the special shades are baked … the baked ones are not housed in a pan (if this makes sense) the ones she’s releasing now are glittery but not baked & if you notice they are flat & have pans … again the previously baked special shades were kinda domed not flat & you could not see the pan hence they were baked into the palettes ❤ hope this helps & makes sense 😊

Hi Patty ☺️ I want to say thank you. You're the first (only) one on social network who addressed the issue with PML IG team handling "negative" comments. I was amongst the too many ones that got blocked. That left a terrible taste in my mouth... I am over it now but won't be wasting my precious coins on their products anymore. I was such a hard-core fan and now I am cured! Concerning the special shades what made them special that they were backed. It's a really expensive process but the result was for the blitz ones silky smooth shades that were elegant and non texturiasing on the lid and could also be blended thus ideal for exquisite one and done. For the astral shades (also baked) they used to have a translucent base thus allowing them to be used as toppers for extra shine and glimmer and in many cases they were also transformative shades which made the motherships so exciting and versatile. This was the case in all motherships till number 9 huetopian dream. The trio chrome shade in this one had a metallic pan and thus non baked. The result while pretty still was nothing compared to the similar shade in mothership 8 divine rose 2. Nearly no one mentioned this issue and PML team succeeded in sneakily replacing a baked shade with a non special one while maintaining the same price tag. It was sort of a test run for them, and they moved away completely from the baked shades in mothership 10 moon lit seduction were none of the "special" shades were baked. Just wanted to let you know. Love you 💕💕💕

I don’t think they aren’t too particular in who they block - PML team has blocked a small influencer who showed on her own IG page that the Star Wars packaging was a sticker. Or a customer that previously said I’m not interested in blush but would love bronzer (back when they released the blush duos). I found it frustrating to see as it was often people who was disappointed they did this for so little after spending $,000s on the brand. I greatly respect Patty for being the first to speak out about it.

I think the disappointing aspect of her removing the baked Astro formula is that that was the only thing that made her different from any other Indian special shadow brand like clionadh, terra moons, give me glow, etc etc all of those companies have gorgeous eyeshadow but it’s that creamy chunky formula and now there’s no point in spending 130 on four special shades when you can get like 7/8 from clionadh for that amount andddd you can choose exactly what shades and I’m not gonna lie they’re better 😬😬😬 I do love the looks you created

Just to clarify, all the 4 special shades in Subliminal are baked, not only the 2 you mention. Same for the Motherships 2-8 except Decadence, of course. Mothership 9 had 3 baked shades. 10 and 11 have no baked shades. You have to look if the eyeshadows are in metal pans or not. Baked shades are not.

I think her flakey formula is the only thing that sets PMG apart from indie brands, so I’m disappointed there are no baked flakey shades in this palette. I love the color story, but I already own a few pinky Huda palettes, and I prefer Huda’s mattes.

I agree that it's not as similar as a lot of people thought, it definitely stands on its own. One thing I noticed when you swatched the special shades against the ritualistic rose astral quad is that the special shades seem to be less shiny and sparkly in this palette than her previous astral formula... I'll have to wait till I see it in person but for me this doesn't seem like a good thing

I really like my Bridgerton 2 palette from Pat and I feel like nobody talks about how fun and diverse those shades are! I know it’s only 6 but I’ve gotten so many different types of looks with combining those with others in my collection. That's a good point. I think if you have both Bridgerton palettes you own basically all the pinks and mauves you need from PMG and in a great formula... If you add the Warm toned Love palette to the mix you're all set😅

I love the Bridgeton 2! I love colorful eyeshadows, but due to work and lifestyle, I rarely wear a shadow, and couldn't justify paying for a Mothership. The B2 was the first one I could afford that had so many colors I liked. I love pink shades, and I took that palette and used it as my only shadows for about 4 months of traveling. I got day to night looks, that I could wear to work, or more glam smokey or sparkly looks. I used it more over one summer than shadows I've had for ten years. I would honestly buy a second one!

I just received my palette today ❤ it’s pretty but nothing great, different or innovative to say the least … there are some really pretty shades BUT this is the first mothership palette released that doesn’t feel or look like the typical mothership palettes we used to know 😅 the back is now cheap gold plastic (it used to be a metal plate) & the “special” shades aren’t anymore but instead are just glitters 😢 even Alicia said she didn’t feel like this was a mothership 😮 alas I did get it at 30% off but I could’ve just passed … I do however own all her motherships & all her quads & most of her 6 pan palettes etc … this palette does appeal to the masses however which equates to money in sales & I also believe the target audience for this palette wasn’t her die-hard fans & collectors but those who didn’t have most of the previous mothership or are brand new to the brand 😒 ugh bummer ! But I’m still here to support Patty & see her beautiful looks & hear her thoughts 😊 now back to the video ❤

The back isn’t even metal anymore? I hadn’t heard that. I’m guess it’s not surprising. I too have all of her MS (except this one) and 99% of everything else she’s ever released. This mothership is so disappointing. I’d not even complain (much) about this repetitive color story if there were baked shades. Anyone can make sparkly shimmers. The baked shades are so versatile and different than what other sparkly shades can do. It’s sad to me.

I have every Mothership up to Midnight Sun then skipped everything since Divine Rose 1 including all the quads and 6 pans so this is a good collection of rosy shades I like that work for me and I would use on a daily basis.

So the Blitz shades are the ones that are pigment-rich and smooth, the Astrals are the flaky sparkles and the VR are the duochrome/multichrome shades. At least it appears that way outlined on her website. I think this is stunning, and my PML collection is curated enough that I plan to pick this up eventually on a sale.

It's unfair that I wasn't allowed to use the 30 percent off code that others were (and honestly not sure why). I would have been thrilled to get it at 30 percent off and get the gift that came with it that others got. While I have almost every single mothership palette (except for the Naomi Campbell one with the green shade, because I wasn't crazy about it, it was an early one), I have to say that these are my colors and I will wear this every day, which justifies it for me. Right now, I do this with the Natasha Dennona "My Dream Palette." I love mauvy pinks and roses. I love that deep plummy shade probably best of all for some reason. This looks great on you. We have the exact same coloring, so I know this will work for me too. Another reason to get it. Especially since I'm someone in a hurry always and I don't want to comb through more than one palette to put on an eye look for the day. Plus, they don't last forever. I'd rather spend the money on something I will wear every day, than all these special shades I've been buying that I love to look at but ultimately rarely end up wearing. So... I ended up getting the set with the primer (so it's like getting primer free), with 10 percent coupon AND I got a pair of the Bridgerton lipsticks that I love (nude ones) for $30... and she threw in that eye liner, mini lipstick duo, which is nice for traveling (free)... this is why I am the queen of rationalization.

This is the first mothership I skipped on launch since I started purchasing from Pat. The warmth of the palette is great for my golden skin tone but I love Pat for her duo- and multi-chromes. My fave palette was huetopian dream for that reason - so many gorgeous special shades! If I get this one, I’m doing it while it’s on a 30% or more sale.

Appreciate your review of this palette. You always make the most stunning looks!! I have all the Motherships and a lot of her other palettes but I don't think I'll collect this one. Also, all the last 4 shades in the Motherships in the whole collection have been baked except for Moonlit Seduction and Sunlit Seduction. She hasn't released new true baked astral shades since the Bridgerton palettes. :(

I think that when a brand does a certain product well they get stuck in a rut… like charlotte’s pillow talk… there’s so many of them and nars’ orgasm… you get it! I have MS 8 only and do love the rose tones. I am liking the warmer tones too. Thank you for swatching this one and doing the comparisons. Depends on what I can afford but I like the look of the matt formula.

Per usual, your look is DIVINE! You ALWAYS make every palette look gorgeous. While this is a similar color story to PM’s other palettes, I actually like this better than Mothership’s 8 and 9; it is more wearable to me than those and a warmer version of the original Divine Rose, which is also easy to wear. I really liked Number 10 with all of the Taupes too. This is her aesthetic and it is beautiful. I totally agree though that they should not delete people’s critical comments; it is not a good business practice or ethical.

Personally, I think this is a beautiful palette by Pat McGrath. I didn’t start purchasing her motherships until she came out with the rose editions. In fact, my very first palette was the Ritualistic Rose eyeshadow quad. After that, I was hooked! Lol It was really interesting seeing the comparisons of those palettes, and actually refreshing. I ordered this palette, so I’m really excited to get it, especially after seeing how beautifully these apply.

Mother Pat likes pink. We do too. I threw out my Divine Rose II and Heutopian Dream palettes to make room for Sunlit Seduction. It arrived today and I know I’m going to love it. Great video!

Patty, your comparisons were super helpful! I own #8 divine rose II as well as the ritualistic rose quad so I can pass on this palette. But it is gorgeous and warm colors look best on my skin tone. Also, with the texture of my eyelids, I prefer the older baked vs. the chunky glittery special shades. Thanks for this very thorough video! For those who do not already have any mothership palettes, this may be a good pickup. I love that it looks like a softer palette as in the mattes will suit people of fair to medium skin a lot better if they want a softer look, which I think is nice because is more wearable and given that this palettes are so expensive I think one can justify buying them more.

I think it’s very similar to recent pink/rosy palettes but for me this is the PERFECT palette. All the shades I love the most in one palette. They shipped my order and I’m supposed to get it on Monday. Very excited. It’s not very nice to delete comments and block people on Instagram. I haven’t seen the comments but I think in general it’s better to give constructive criticism like ”I’m a big fan and would love to see a different colour story. This is very similar to earlier palettes.” Instead people can be very harsh on social media and it’s not uncommon to see mean things being said. Noone reacts well to that kind of comments, so if you want a dialogue and get your point through it’s better to say it in a constructive way. I am no saint and have been upset over things and said things in a not so nice way, but you don’t get someone to listen that way. Anyhow, back to watching this awaited review and enjoy a good cup of coffee. Have a good day ❤

💖💖💖 First and foremost, your look you created is GORGEOUS and your hair today is lovely!! Secondly, congrats to you for doing an amazing ‘comparison’ section of this video! Great job and I truly appreciate your hard work! Now, I don’t have any PM palettes because I can’t justify the cost but if the price wasn’t a consideration or if it goes on a killer sale, THIS palette would be the one I would choose as it is the perfect curation of what I consider to be ‘my kind of neutrals’ color story…..the best of all compared swatches! I do understand others frustration but hey, it’s her brand. What I don’t like is what you mentioned in the beginning, about her IG and this whole ‘controversy’. Companies need to be careful with how they treat their customers. Not cool! And what I REALLY don’t understand (as someone who has owned businesses in the past) is WHY she hasn’t given her core , dedicated, money paying fans something different? A beautiful purple based palette with some silvers and a green or something palette?? She has the fan base… I don’t get it….?! And can someone please explain why, oh WHY, is she referred to as ‘Mother Pat’???? Seriously, why? Patty , thank you for another amazing video! xxx!💖💖💖

I agree, the palette is much prettier in person. I too thought about the ritualistic rose quad for comparison of the one special shade. I am glad I have picked it up .Mothership 11 is a everyday Mothership palette with the ability to glam up with the four special shades. This not a bad thing going forward, however we do need different colour stories.

It’s less gold than it looked in the promo pictures, but even pinker lol. Think it’s her pinkest one yet. I really liked the baked shadows, I think they age better too. Creamy shadows go off quicker i think. I bought it for 30%, as I think it’s nice for that price and I will use a lot of the colours, but I don’t think it’s as special as some of the other motherships.

My favorite special shadow from her is in the v mothership, the top far right one. For some reason that one has the most special special shimmers lol but they do tend to leave sparkles falling all day. Idc though, so pretty.

I haven't bought the last 2 mothership palettes, and I thought I wasn't going to get the latest one even when you revealed it. But....as soon as you started applying the palette I fell in love, your eye look is gorgeous!!! I was going to get the infatuation palette but now I can see it's so similar I will just purchase sunlit seduction instead. Your comparisons have been so helpful...I also love that lip gloss, that's another purchase I'll be making!
