LOVE Lyle Mays quote on this song: Mays: “One of the devices that film makers have available to them is the juxtaposition of opposite elements to achieve more nuanced and complex results. What happens in the listener’s mind is that the brain tries to make sense of it and can often come up with a very interesting story, far more interesting than what we might have in mind.” So he KNEW…. This has always been my favorite Mays/Metheny song. Thank You Lyle and RIP ❤🫡❤

Both the live and studio versions of this track are outstanding in their own right for very different reasons. A darkened room with a large glass of quality whisky listening to both tracks is a joy to behold. Masterpiece

Years ago, when I lived in Texas, I used to travel up to Wichita Falls with friends that lived there, and I would play this song on the stereo cassette in the car, and the title of the song was no accident. The music perfectly reflected the landscape and the journey. Love this!

Lacoste Kio 6:30 the best composed bit initiated.saw performance early eighties in a jazz club in downtown Norfolk, eith Lyle Mays. quaint little club thst catered to military officers it was do incredibly amazing to see such talent on a weeknight eith less than 50 people in the club. Surreal, to say the least, one of my most memorable experiences of my life....

It's not the piece called As Falls Wichita Falls... that's a long instrumental that opens without a noticeable melody. This is something else altogether. Unfortunately, UMG has banned most of this album from KZbin and for some reason PMG does not seem to have included any of this music in their concert programs. Offramp is also underrepresented, other than "Are you going with me?" but at least it's available online.
