Excelente. Fue el primer disco que tuve de Pat Metheny. Es mi vida, mi personalidad, amo su música.

I saw this show in Cleveland Ohio. At the conclusion, Pat came out with a mike and took questions from the audiencec on how Orchestrion came to be and how things worked, for about a halh hour. He lives for his music.

This new rendition of this classic was, in my opinion, the highlight of The Orchestrion Project. My best part is the stretch from 6:39 - 8:00. He gently emphasizes and elongates certain notes, and that run from 7:30 - 7:45 is simply heavenly. A masterpiece through and through

Has anyone else found this first loop rather complex? I'm hearing loads of G's where I don't see him playing them so I suspect it's an open tuning of some kind, unless he's got his orchestrion backing him up that way. Absolutely wonderful music though. Been listening to this album loads lately and it's massive.

Who's the drummer?! R2D2?! According to the comments below, no one seems to have noticed that he's got robots backing him up, at least on percussion. I wonder if the other instruments like bass and keyboards are recorded or also being manipulated by robotic arms! How the heck do you program robots to play in sync with you?! Fascinating!
@aeropilot44196 жыл бұрын
Terry Masri There’s a very good documentary from CBS Morning on the Orchestrion project. Basically Pat has programmed all the accompaniment with his guitar as the controller ... quite an accomplishment, but a hassle to bring on the road. After this DVD was shot, he travelled with a truncated version of the Orchestrion. The last couple of tours he has retained a band of humans. The current tour (Fall, 2018) is really good.

A great song from one of his early albums ... but I just don't quite get the concept of the Orchestrion Project. Yes, the technology is amazing, and he CAN trigger all those devices to follow his whims ... but I prefer Pat in a context where he is on the edge ... taking chances in dialogue with other jazz musicians. Although Pat is a god of modern music, and along with Herbie Hancock, my favorite all-rounder, compared with the Orchestrion Project, the thing that Lyle Mays did with the TEDx project follows more of my image of the greater range of possibilities interacting in real time with other musicians kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmm4oIlmraemjKs
