I really like that you do multiple looks with fewer colours rather than one look with all 4 shades. This helps me see the versatility better since I won't always use all shades! Thanks for a great review.

I passed on this entire collection...I just am not really inspired by them and also am still holding some frustration from her launch of the Divine Rose palette and waiting in line in the snow in NYC for hours and then turned away....after they confirmed we would all get palettes. I returned items due to an allergic reaction, it took two months to get my refund. I will only purchase PML products from Sephora from this point forward. If the concealer wasn’t my favorite I would be tempted to stay away from the brand altogether. Stunning as always Tara🔥

You nailed it with this assessment! I just got mine yesterday and swatched the quads and I was sadly underwhelmed. The only new formula shade is the lavender/blue in the Risque Rose which is a beautiful almost glittery lavender/blue/silver shade. Quite stunning. But then after that you go "It's okayyyy" from there. This in NO WAY has the impact of her special baked glittery, super iridescent Astral, Blitz, VR formulas as in last years quads or in her Motherships. Neither, do her mattes in these quads mimic the gorgeously smooth buttery blendableness of her mattes in her Motherships. If you want to really experience Mother Pat at her best and the way I got to know her do NOT use these to measure from. This is not her best by far. I was also rather disappointed in Fleur Fantasia which I was so excited about as I loved those spring summery shades but the shades don't have much impact and the most pale one in the quad has no interest to it. I can't figure out whether it was trying to be a highlighter type of shade as it just doesn't quite get there, neither does it have any shine at all to it, but it's not a matte either. I just don't know what it's supposed to be so it comes off flat and on my skintone it's not going to do much of anything. Lol! Really quite underwhelmeding. To me it makes no sense whatsoever to create these quads in this packaging in the first place and not make them stupendous. To me that's the whole point for creating shadows in this packaging. I'm left scratching my head and wanting to dig my fingers even more into last years delicious quads. Lol!

Hello Tara, I have picked up the quads. I am enjoying them. But, as you said, one is likely to use these along with other palettes they have in their collections. I actually am enjoying using the 3 quads, interchanging different colors from different quads to create looks. I do think the interstellar is my favorite of the three. The colors Hypnotique and Divine Dahlia are my personal favorites! You are correct that these aren’t her special blitz shadows. But, still they have a uniqueness to them. On PM’s Instagram account she mentioned that she was launching new formulas in these quads. The Mink Noir and Rose Rebellion seem to be that wet dry feeling matte formula, not too dissimilar to those in Natasha Denona’s Metropolis palette. I’m not a huge fan of those types of shadows. I tend to find they can be patchy when attempting to blend them out. But, they make great eyeliners! Lol! There is strong pigmentation in these types of shadows. Anyhow... I have a feeling these quads are likely to cause controversy. They aren’t like last years quads. And she has already established an expectation for many of her consumers. So, time will tell how people respond to these quads. As well as to the entire shipping fiasco. That is really unfortunate that it continues. Hopefully, it will be addressed and resolved this year. yaaay I love this review sooo much especially the looks you created with the interstellar quad. woooow wooooow wooooow. I have purchased this one (I had to have it because of that beautiful blue) and actually I quite enjoy it. However, I got a 10% coupon for it - also for the mothership VII that I had bought and free shipping. So this helped a little bit (not as much as I'd like lol) in the price justification. So far I have created 3 looks with it and they all turned out gorgeous. But I think the point you made with the quality/price in regards to these quads is a very valid one. Not saying PMG is not worth it. Because these are small & special colors, I feel more comfortable (along with my wallet) buying this with a bigger discount. I received Fleur Fantasia and Risque Rose last Friday. I can understand people's frustration with the shipping. She definitely needs to make adjustments to the distribution center. It does help that Tara has lovely eyes in the first instance, to apply shades - I was once complimented by a consultant in Vegas when she applied lipstick on me - said I could advertise lip products - I replied, thank goodness for that, that I have one thing still going for me - my lips! I purchased the quad bundle and the highlighter. And I too was disappointed with the shipping. Takes too long to receive, and I got no shipping notification. I couldn’t agree more with what you’ve said in this video. The color stories are pretty but I don’t think they are super special. The risqué rose gave me difficulty with the matte brown shade and to top it off I had an allergy with the pink. I think the interstellar icon palette is the nicest one.

Good review, but I don’t think you are necessarily taking into account the cost of packaging for the quads vs the mega palette. There’s a significant difference in quality of packaging to receive a more “mothership” style lacquered box. Also I believe the price per quad is cheaper than last years as a reflection of the fact that it does not have that astral formula.

I enjoyed this review. I was agog with delight when I saw the huge pallet and thought OH i will get that! Then I liked the interstellar pallet, and after watching several reviews, and now yours, I am thinking not. I have never ordered from her website ( sorry I missed out on the pink boxes, seriously) but I love my mothership sublime pallet - and am thinking I will purchase from Sephora and get the divine rose ones instead. They actually had a sale on a package of hers, a blue shade and a brown one, with a special white/blue special sparkle overlay shade with a bonus black shade, all singles, a brush and a kohl pencil, for $65. I thought what the heck... Thank you for the review as always Tara!

There are really too many similar colors across the 3 holiday quads. Your 1st and 3rd look read very similar on camera. Last years quads were all so unique from each other. I have risqué rose and fleur Fantasia coming but I’m feeling increasingly disenchanted with this brand. Great work as usual.

I completely agree I ordered from Charlotte Tilbury twice after I ordered from pat and I got both Charlotte orders before I got my pat order. I only ordered the big palette and i ordered it on launch day and i got it after people who ordered when released at sephora from now on I will only buy if I can get it at sephora.

I hear you. I ordered a quad and the highlighter from her website the day they launched and I finally emailed customer service yesterday asking about my shipping confirmation. What bothers me is the declaration on the website that orders cannot be cancelled before shipment because they’re so fast! There’s no time! 🙄 What? I purchased the Interstellar Icon quad because it was the most unique. After seeing both palettes on you, I’m so glad I did! Your eye looks are stunning, and they seemed to blend effortlessly compared to the Risqué Rose palette. I was considering buying the highlighter, but I want to see what it looks like swatched. I’m actually glad that I didn’t purchase it ahead of time because I probably would’ve had to wait for it anyway. It’s a shame that the shipping is so slow. To be honest, I lucked out and received mine fairly quickly, and I live in Northern Michigan.

Thank you for your review. When considering the breakdown of cost for the eyeshadow it really does make me question how much money goes into the packaging across the board for her products. I wonder if they can find a happy medium where you are still getting a luxury experience that is cost- effective and widely reproducible. That way comparisons just across her brand can be more transparent and one can decide what is worth the money or not. It’s somewhat unclear to me at this point. I still bought them though, Lolol.

I love the eye looks you created but I have to say I did not pick them up and after your review I'm glad. I think I am just getting bored with her shadows. She needs to make a quad with 4 great shades & 4 great formulas. Too many companies are dishing out all these new palettes with only 1 or two shades that are quality it's awful. I got Interstellar Icon and Fleur Fantasia ... I was able go dupe almost every shadow . I did order mine from her site and got my palettes in under a week, I live in california !! So I was scared it was going to take awhile but I was pleasantly surprised . In Interstellar Icon, I was able to dupe 3 shadows using Colourpop super shock shadows. Fleur Fantasia , the only one I couldn't dupe was Huetopia. Everything else was found with indie brands. Also, I was a bit disappointed in the packaging . The sticker on the back wasn't even and the quads are extremely expensive . So yeah....

I received the highlighter yesterday and it is beautiful and worth the wait. My understanding was the highlighters were not shipping until October 19th and I received it on the 22nd. My Sephora packages are always delayed even as a Rouge member.

When the pandemic started and Divine Rose 2 came out, I ordered from Sephora and although I got it fast, there was crumpled up paper for padding and it was thrown in a big box. So yes 2 shadows shattered. I could repress and I got a refund. But I don’t know who to trust sometimes...long PML shipping wait or possible damaged product from Sephora?

That's absolutely true... Pat McGrath distribution center does a GREAT job packing their products vs Sephora. Great point. When ordering those expensive Mothership Palettes, it may be worth the wait knowing it will arrive in better condition❤❤❤

I bought the highlighter from Pat’s website on release day and it finally arrived yesterday. For reference, I live about four hours from their distribution center. I ordered the blue quad from Sephora on Friday, and it’ll be here today. Glad I’m not missing out on the other quads. I was disappointed about no special shades too.

@@amberjohnson6261 I have it on now. The packaging weighs a TON. I literally almost dropped it because it is SO HEAVY. It’s in almost like a pot with a twist on lid, and the lid is like a brick. Seriously if you dropped it on your floor you could crack a tile. The product itself looked too dark for me since I’m an NC15, but when I applied it, it looks STUNNING. Definitely more pink than the Charlotte Tilbury and Natasha Denona ones.

Shipping is oddly fast for me in Australia (I mean, by international delivery to Australia standards), took less than a week and a half to get the 18-pan and then another week and a half for the quads, and they use DHL express which as an ecommerce worker myself I know to be very fast. Typically I'll place the order on the Friday night they release the collection, and the parcel will be dispatched on a Wed/Thurs, then I'll receive it the following Monday. I wonder if they're using a much slower service for your neck of the woods? Also I reckon they expanded too quickly and have not appropriately staffed for their increased popularity, something I'm unfortunately all too familiar with.

I actually received mine right away. I only ordered the Intersteller Icon quad. I knew this was not going to have the special astral or 00 shades, but was still disappointed. The blue eyeshadow is not really turquoise like in the promo pics, it’s a dark blue purple. Also, the packaging is DIFFERENT. It does not have the metal plate in the back like the mothership palettes nor last year’s holiday quads. Doesn’t feel like weighty luxury makeup at all. I would have preferred the same type of product like last year’s quads along with the higher price tag. I returned it. ☹️

I ordered Fleur Fantasia (only that one) on Saturday and got a shipping confirmation this morning (Wednesday) so hopefully that one and the highlight are going out. I’ve been lucky so far but the stories I hear on social media about shipping and customer service are awful!

agreed agreed AGREED !!! WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAID ! I'm very disgusted with PMG shipping issues and these quads don't come remotely close to last years' quads ... also the blue blood shade in the blue quad is a repeat shade from decadence ,,, the larger palette is a much better bang for your buck for PMG but I passed because I own both SW palettes ,,,, I just received my quads after receiving a partial order then received the last and missing quad TWICE and the highlighter ,,, I sent two emails which were answered with a generic response and many others still haven't received their orders or were partial orders ! its one hot mess and no Im not sending the extra quad back ! I'll consider it a gift after their atrocious shipping and mediocre CS ! Im beyond frustrated ! I will say however that highlighter is stunning ! from the packaging to the highlighter itself ,,,that packaging is over the top heavy and luxe ... reminds me of a luxe golden hockey puck ! thx for your honesty and looks and review ! xoxo

I love pink eyeshadows but I cannot pull off those shades on my skin tone, it makes me look like I’m sick! I love the look with the purple matte shade and the silvery blue and that would look much better on me too 😉❤️

I say this with 100 percent certainty that if someone asked me if I wanted to meet some of these creators in person, I would say " Absolutely not!" These things are a great indication of how these people treat others, their regard or lack thereof. Integrity is the principle thing. Not your popularity, your designs, makeup or your pocket book.

Save yourself the money and get the bh supernova palette and the solar flare palette. You get tons more and the shades work beautifully without broking the bank. Looks the same on the eyes at the end of the day.

Totally off topic here but I trust your opinion and recommendations so much. I got the Mario mattes and they show every little bit of texture/wrinkles. Do you think Charlotte Tilbury shadows would be smoothing since the formula isn’t so dry? I’m 46, so my kids aren’t even that bad 😀

It’s taken me forever to get my items I’ve emailed them a couple of times when I finally got my package Friday after waiting for weeks I only had my highlighter no palettes I was so frustrated I wanted to cancel everything anyways I emailed them got my shadows Monday I agree these so far aren’t really worth it last years quads were way better! I find these to be crumbly and sheer😊❤️

I thought the same exact thing. The pricing does not make sense in relation to her previous prices. The $7 difference between last years quads and this years might be accounted by the change in the compact design but not in the change to a more common formula.

I ordered shadows from the PMG website when they had the 50% sale. I live in 🇨🇦 & went with regular shipping. My order got lost. One thing I will say is customer service was really great about getting back to me ASAP. I asked them to pay for expedited shipping, said they couldn’t but They did offer me 50% off one of the pallets I wanted that had been out of stock when I placed my order. I did regular shipping again, waited 5 days didn’t get any shipping confirmation. Tried to get my shipping changed to expedited but it took a day for CS to get back to me & by the time they got my reply a day later it had already shipped. Once it had already shipped it only took a week but needless to say, I was definitely frustrated. And with 🇨🇦exchange rate it wasn’t inexpensive, even with the sale price! If I do order from then again i will def pay the extra $10 for expedited shipping!!

I ordered the Interstellar Icon on launch day and it came exactly a week later and I’m in the UK. I had all kinds of shipping problems in the spring, items missing and orders taking ages to come so I decided I would wait til the Christmas releases came to Selfridges, however nothing, not even the big palette has come to Selfridges so I bit the bullet and ordered from Pat McGrath and it was unproblematic. I’m disappointed with the collection as a whole. The quads don’t have the gold back and the boxes aren’t the lovely trifold boxes like last year’s quads. It would’ve been nice if they’d done mini motherships, maybe a matte, a shimmer and a couple of special shades. I get having no special shades and toned down packaging is reflected in the price. Last year’s quads are £60 opposed to £45 this for this years. I already have the Omi pave heart lipstick from last year. The 18 pan palette doesn’t interest me. The only other item I may pick up is the highlighter but that could be too dark for me so I will need to see it in action first. I love Pat but I’m so underwhelmed. Same with Natasha, that mini and those lipsticks, meh. Thank goodness for Charlotte Tilbury and Dior, their releases look like proper Christmas collections. Now I’ve got that off my chest 😂 as always the looks you created are gorgeous especially the blue. Xx

I ordered the Divine Rose Palette from Pat McGraths website and it took 6 weeks to arrive so I won’t bother buying from their website again tbh. Charlotte Tilbury shipping is so much quicker from my experience. I have been eyeing out the fleur quad but I don’t want the shipping headache. Wish it was available at Sephora. Shipping was the same for me ...complained a lot on Instagram and I got a DM from them and got me one within days . Makes me not want to order from the site , which makes me sad cause I love the products :(
