1996 at Ozz Night Club in Buena Park, California, I was 18 years old and just starting going out to gay clubs. The way this song activated the whole bar/club was electrifying. It’s like people would take a break from cruising, etc and just let loose and have fun. There was a sunken dance floor, and people stood along rails dancing and watch the people dancing in the pit. The sea of hands in the air clapping at that certain part of the song was amazing!

My friend Peter moved to Halifax from Toronto, and started working at the club where I was dj'ing. This songs was one of his contributions to our playlist. EVERY time we played it, the dance floor filled up and people did this dance, kinda like the macarena...but better. It was a great experience...and it never got boring.

Loved this song. This sounds now kind of cheezy but it's got such energy! It reminds me of this club that we used to go to in Seattle : The Oz, and we would go crazy, start dancing on the podium everytime it played. Loved it so much that we'd asked Randy the dj to record it on a mix tape along with the Sugarcubes' song "hit" and other classics of the time.

With the downturn in the economy, (when the banks crashed it) it really did a ugly down-turn on the night club business. Sadly it hasn't recovered either. I suppose it doesn't help when a club has the same 1970s sound system it installed in the 1970s.

Yes, the remix is from 1990. But the original single was released by a group named Odyssey (Native New Yorker) back in 1980. The original (1980) was very good but doesn't have the great sound that this remix does. Just love the Pat and Mick version. Ohhhh, yeahhh!!
